Before purchasing the BT RV7

Now that would be a first class add on. Many folks delay purchasing the F1GTN, probably due to price, but once they make that step, they are extremely satisfied. I hear quite often - "I wish I had made the decision to get the F1GTN months ago, it adds so very much to the immersion and the accuracy of flying".Regards,Ray

I know! I did not purchased it yet because I get extremely bored flying the magenta line. Maybe that will change soon :)

Cheers :)

RealAir Lancair Legacy and extremely bored are an unlikely combination

Bert

There is only one thing, in my view, that the Bay Tower RV7 needs. A change of pilot! I defy anyone to get in one and not do a roll, loop, knife-edge or any kind of aerobatic shenanigans! All for a piddling $25. If you paid $30 for the FDR Navion wouldn't feel robbed.

If it scares you that a forum is closed, then you got some really scary sh!t coming your way.

EDIT: The P38 is coming along nicely.

EDIT: EDIT: The RealAir Lancair is nice enough but too 'pristine' for my liking.

Thanks Rob and Bert :)

EDIT: Nice!!

EDIT EDIT: For me too, but i Turbo-version (or turbine maybe?) 'd be great to have.

I will wait and save for the time being... ! I almost forgot I have the F15 on DCS to maintain me busy!

Cheers :)

Doesn't the RV7 have an HSI with glideslope capability?  Or am I dreaming this?

Glideslope capability? Isn't that 'pointing it at the ground' If so, then yes.

It does, but for RNAV approaches only... as best I recall..

Bert

I would think ils would work - now you've got me thinking - I'll install a virgin RV7 into FSX no rxp and see

Let me know :)

Oh! I was exploring the Ron library the other day... I'd purchase the RV7 just to fly 661RV

Cheers :)

There is definitely ILS (with GS) and VOR capability without RXP

For hand flying maybe, but the autopilot will not fly NAV or ILS

in VLOC mode.

Bert

The OP asked about flying a vertical path and an "IFR approach" so I took that to mean ILS with GS...

But yes Bert is correct, the autopilot will only fly a GNSS track (GPS course) or a heading, and you can select vertical speed for a climb.  But there is no altitude arm (or ALTS mode), and there is no approach mode.

...except for GPS approaches,  which the autopilot will fly quite handily...

Ryan, call me noob, but how can i follow the vertical path of the GS ILS without any gauges like a cessna? I'm sure i'm missing something :fool:

I don't see the HSI having a bar for the vertical path.. Only the lateral
