Ok read the messages, thanks, good points. Now exactly what do you want me to do.

Nelson

I am online at in Canada it is 10:23 ET

Nelson,

Check the filename of your FSX application in the Prepar3D folder. If the name is "fsx.exe", change it to just "fsx". It should already be an application file (with a .exe extension), because it is a copy of the Prepar3D application.

Nelson

Change the name from "fsx.exe" to "fsx", and try installing UT2 again (using Elaine's instructions).

Ok do this............

Restart your computer

Go back to post 269 and  Untick the box "Hide extensions for Known file types"    Restart your Computer.

http://www.avsim.com/topic/485133-how-do-i-install-ultimate-traffic-2-prepar3d-v3/?p=3468803

Now go to your Prepar3D folder, what do your fsx, fs9 and Prepar3D say.  They should now have an .exe at the end of each one of them, If they don't it means you have manually changed them in the meantime.

If they Don't.....

Right Click on each one of them and Rename to  fsx.exe   fs9.exe  Prepar3d.exe    With the Box  Unticked this is what they should be like now.

To be honest i have absolutely no idea if different File Type's will make a difference but you never know.

Try that

Ok Elaine. I am sure the files in P3D are ok withboth of your help because now the installer finds the path to FSX and starts installing files which it didn't do before. However it gets to the end of installing files and then the message in post 277 pops up. Any ideas why. I have tried the installation a couple of time with the same result

Thanks

Nelson

This is what the inside of the P3d looks like after the restart

Ok i know why.............

The Installer is trying to Install an Entry to your dll.xml file to AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX    Of course you don't have a Micrsooft\FSX folder in There !

When this happens it means the Installer is at its final stages meaning  "Maybe" the Installer has already extracted the files and folders to Prepar3D folder

Check your Prepar3D folder do you have this.............

In addition to this...........

The fact the Installer is seeking out  AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX  This means you still have your FSX keys in your Register editor  Pointing to Prepar3D ?   If you do, For future reference Remove Pathway in them,  The Keys themselves are fine,  Just remove the Pathway

I can sense that we are almost there.....

I am soooo confused with all of this even with Elaines great information. I have tried very hard to follow everything exactly. I never did get a sucessful complete installation so I checked all the files that were supposed to have been installed and they were all there. Then completed all the rest of the instructions. Went to run the UT program and got errors. Sorry I don't want to give up but I am really getting frustrated with all of this. You both have been more than helpful and I appreciate that.

Thanks

Nelson

Elaine what do you mean by this, sorry

I'm on an iPhone now.

Ok, so you have extracted all the folders, The rest is pretty easy.

I will be at proper comp later.

Some questions for now........

Are you trying to start UT2 without starting Prepar3d ?

What error are you getting?

I don't think that he has yet completed the installation, Elaine.
