Ah, right! I didn't realise that there was another thread as I don't venture into the P3D forums much. Thanks for the link, Daniel. I'm anxiously awaiting Freemesh X USA  :cool:

Same fellow. It probably is your best pay option. I would go ahead and investigate that option. Once I have gotten where I need to be, I'll personally let you know when FreeMeshX - USA is close to release if you ever do want to try it by then :)

Could you drop any sexy hints on how close? :P

You need to be about as close as you can get. Like, really close! :cool:

I'm thinking of a change in plans. Originally, I wanted to release FreeMeshX - USA as an innovative design that will rid of us those ugly pits/plateaus that we occasionally experience around airports. This design is holding me back and taking me much longer to get working perfectly.

So I may release FreeMeshX - USA in a "raw" form like the other regions to get out to you kind folks sooner than later, and then I can take some more time to work on the new design. I think this may be the best way forward. It won't be perfect like I wanted, but at least it will be in your hands quicker.

Pay attention to this space! It might get lively.

Apart from the age old "non-sloping runways" issue of FSX, I assume that scruffyduck's Airport Design Editor can be used to get rid of the airport elevation discrepancies.... airport by individual airport unfortunately :)

Thanks for the continued support to the community Daniel.

Looks amazing Daniel, thank you.

And thank you for changing your mindset about this one. Perfectionist in me understands you, I was often in these situations, starting some project thinking "ok, this doesn't have to be perfect, I don't want to waste like 10% of my life on this" but, little by little... I end up with "no dammit I can't let this end up imperfect":males: and next time same story all over again. If you're like this then this must be very hard decision for you I imagine.

So thank you very much once again.

Great timing! Right on time for rendezvous with v4. =)

Has anyone installed FreemeshX into P3D V4 yet?

I'm having a difficult time wrapping my mind on how to install, despite reading the Installation Tutorial.  Can anyone explain exactly what steps I need to install them?  I have a bunch of saved files.

What do I do first, where do I even begin?  I have them installed in P3D 3.4 but it was a while ago, they're all on a different SSD where P3D 3.4 is.  Can I just drag these folders somewhere?

Sorry, but I'd like to install them but this tired ol d dog isn't as up to speed as you guys.

Yes, you can just drag them. Why not in "Addon Scenery" folder.

Um, wait, I just realize that there's not any folder with that name in vanilla P3D v4. But you can always make it.

Also... do you plan to use v3 still or just v4 ? Cause, you can then just cut/paste all those "Freemesh" named folders into new sim and add the scenery within the game itself. You can do it via textually editing your "scenery.cfg" file too.

It should be into your "C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3" at least it is in mine, I use W7/64.

Here's a copy/paste from my P3D v3 scenery.cfg file.

Your Area numbers will be different, of course. Always next in line.

And FreemeshX areas can be in non specific order, just make sure patches are on top.

Or bottom, depending how you look at it. They have to have bigger number, perhaps it's best way to say.

But I'm guess a proper path will do the same, I'm guessing giving the right path in scenery.cfg file in "Local" column, you won't even have to move it at all, if you don't feel like it.

For example if you have freemesh on your v3 P3D in location

D:\Prepar3D v3\Addon Scenery\FreeMeshX - Patches

and your new P3D v4 is on entirely different drive like

E:\Prepar3D v4

then adding the path into .cfg file

[Area.137]
Title=FreeMeshX - Patches
Local=D:\Prepar3D v3\Addon Scenery\FreeMeshX - Patches
Layer=137
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE

will do it.

Now, when it's all written like this... this tutorial seems much more complicated then it really is. :senyum:

I hope you can catch my drift. Ask again if it's still unclear to you.

Thanks Gamer.

This is what I have.

Drive (C) which is Win 7/64

P3D 3.4, which uses most, not all the meshes is on one SSD, (G).

For some reason when I initially installed it, (and it was very very complicated to me) it placed all the folders on my FSX SSD (X), which I did not like or want.

But I never use FSX so no big deal.

Now, P3D V4 is on a completely different SSD (Z).

I do plan on using both, especially since it'll be a while before it's up to the speed 3.4 is right now.

How do I install them into V4 without having to edit the scenery.cfg file which is a bit over my pay grade.

Hi Jack,

You can just use the scenery library option P3Dv4 to browse to those existing folders on your FSX SSD. You don't really need to move them if you don't want to.

Well just add one by one. With patches on top, remember!

It's easy. You want a video ?

Right, okay, which actual folders do I select?

I'll post a screenshot in a little bit as I have to get something to eat.
