June 28, 20169 yr A little confusing here. First post says, "Before you ask, this is not a "study" sim (whatever that means)". When I go to the store page it says, "727 Series Study v2". Just wondering an honest opinion here, how would you compare this to the PMDG 737 or 777 as far as systems? I'll likely buy it if it's close to that level of fidelity.

AFAIK almost everything is now modelled so calling it a "study sim" is certainly not a misnomer especially now with all the failure and maintenace modelling. 4790K @4.9GHz, 32GB DDR3, 1080Ti, W10-64bit

It is certainly above airbus x level if we want to speak fsx terms. the systems are great. However you have to know this is a steam gauge plane. The fmc is a add-on that works but imho just feels out of place. Fly it with VOR or the CIVA and it feels like a real and complete plane in the 70s

Hi, My appreciation was based on the first iteration of the plane. This is v2 and a lot of work have been done. I'm also careful with the word "study", because it raises some expectations, like a fully simulated fmc, which is might not be the case here (the freeware fmc is very good, but I didn't test the integration yet). However, add the CIVA navigation system and you have a fully simulated 70s airliner. Much more challenging to master than an NG. I think Jack Skieczius decided to add the "study" label after a pilot who was on a 727 for many years suggested that it was deserved. Cheers, Pascal
June 29, 20169 yr Thanks for the info. With airliners, I like both the older and newer cockpits. GA I prefer steam gauges. Sounds like it's worth a purchase. That CIVA is a nightmare though. It was on the old Concorde I believe(I think it's the same thing) and once upon a time I attempted to learn it with the Flight Sim Labs Concorde. Maybe now's a good time to try again. -Brendan

The 727 is worth the purchase, no doubt about that. Richard 7950x3d | 32Gb 6000mHz RAM | 8Tb NVme | RTX 4090 | MSFS | P3D | XP12
