We've all spent so much time in the VC of the 737 over the past two years, I thought it would be interesting to know, or see pictures of the actual aircraft PMDG used at the time from which the VC model was ultimately created.

I doubt if they would share it.

I will guess that Kyle had connections at IAD to possibly United to take pictures when a plane was tech. PMDG have said they record real sounds and take pictures to model based on real world aircraft not just using pictures on the internet. - David Lee

I would venture to guess a lot of data came from the original NG.  I see a lot of similarities there.  Rendering is new, but under the hood logic is the same or close.  For example, I owned the original in FS9 and had bought the entire US chart set on paper for navigation.  Given that FSX's navdata is locked to right around the time I bought those charts, I went back and installed the Navigraph FMC navdata, which predates the NGX.  It works fine.  I save everything lol.

PMDG has a commercial license with Boeing, and access to their engineering data, simulators and aircraft.  The wear and tear and cheezits crumbs in the NGX is probably artistic license representative of what they saw in a number of cockpits. There is nothing from the NG in the NGX, the navdata format just happens to be a carry over, which even the JS4100 uses.

Wish I could wipe the smudges off some of the glass.  Makes my OCD work overtime.  And the PPG serial number on the windshield is a nice detail.
