September 26, 20169 yr Hi, I'm looking at getting probably a 737 and 747 airliner. I'm wanting to get something that has good flight dynamics and the instruments/switches all work properly, but at the same time don't want to get super heavy into the procedures (i.e. I don't want to spend 30 minutes just to start the engines and do pushback). Do the iFly aircraft have a somewhat "dumbed-down" mode for someone like me included in the package? Actually, I'm curious about that on the PMDG aircraft also. Thanks for your help with this. September 26, 20169 yr No offense to Pete but he's clearly having an installation or setup issue. Yes, the fact that the iFly didn't--and may not ever--have an FS2Crew for it was a bit bothersome (FS2Crew really brings the commercial liners to life, doesn't it?). Jeff: there are no "modes," per se, but all of the modern commercial aircraft are fairly easy to get going. Especially in context of what are the closest to modes--panel states--and the iFly indeed has several. You can set up the livery configurator to start in "normal" or "last used" state, as opposed to "cold and dark," and you can essentially dial a flap, push the thrust and get going, flight plan or FMC be damned. Jeff Pmdg can load with the engines running. From there you can have everything loaded and ready to taxi in under 5 mins however the best solution is FS2 crew since its far more realistic, the copilot can do most of the prep stuff while you program the route ,fuel and payload ZORAN
September 26, 20169 yr Garrett and Zoran, thanks for the quick replies. That's exactly what I was trying to find out. I appreciate your help. Now, I just have to get to ordering something. October 4, 20169 yr I was planning on purchasing the iFly 737 and 747, but there seems like a jillion "ifs, ands, and buts" in the installation instructions. The one that concerns me most is the following: 7. It is also very important, we suggest not to install P3D, FSX, FS2004 or any add-on product in a "windows protected area" That will be places like:\Program Files\Program Files (x86) \Windows \Program Data I'm one of those who has for years always installed my FS software (in the present case P3D v3.2.3) in the default location "\Program Files (x86)" and never had any problems. I'm just wondering if some of you have done the same and used the iFly products successfully. (Sorry for the bold type. Can't seem to get rid of it.) Thanks, Jeff Jeff Smith System: i9-[email protected]., ASUS Maximus XI Hero MB, 32 GB 3200 Hyper-X RAM, Corsair HX1000i PSU, Cooler Master ML360R RGB, EVGA RTX 3080Ti FTW3, (2) Samsung 860 500GB SSD for Windows 10 Pro and sim, (2) M.2 NVMe 2TB, (2) WD Black 4TB HD for data, Samsung 65" 4K curved monitor @ 30Hz. October 4, 20169 yr Jeff: I think you're overthinking things a bit. A notation like that, alone, shouldn't be a big deal-breaker. That being said, I always install to C:\Prepar3D v3 and install everything but AS16 and FSGlobal2010 to my C: drive as well. I know old habits die hard but I'd recommend installing outside of those folders as well. Lastly, I hate to pick sides, but I'd consider the "other" 737 instead. I own both and I don't even think I have the iFly installer on my storage drive anymore. The other one gets better frames (although apparently iFly issued a performance update for the 737 recently, even though I had figured they weren't ever going to touch the product again) looks a little bit better despite some claims that the window geometry is off. There are also some neat addons available for it such as FS2Crew (the FS2Crew for the iFly is very old), FSFX Immersion and a new sound package that's getting good reviews, just to name a few. October 4, 20169 yr Garrett, thanks for all of your suggestions. I'll probably go ahead and try the iFly747. Maybe next time around on a complete install (i.e. P3D v4?) I'll use the location like yours, but the thought of changing everything now that is working fine is not pleasant. October 4, 20169 yr but the thought of changing everything now that is working fine is not pleasant. That's certainly true and I can sympathize if you have a bunch of addons that are currently pointing toward your current directory. Garrett Frank
October 10, 20169 yr I did not purchase it. Primary reason is no prior access to support formus like PMDG allows.
October 10, 20169 yr You could purchase it, have access to their forums and if you don't like it you can return it within 30 days. But I don't think you have any interest on this addon being that you are a "PMDG Cultist" :-D
October 11, 20169 yr Really. How many flightsim developers or publishers offer a refund? Why, then, is this even an issue? Garrett Frank
October 11, 20169 yr Really. How many flightsim developers or publishers offer a refund? Why, then, is this even an issue? Because I use prepaid Visas.
October 12, 20169 yr I did not purchase it. Primary reason is no prior access to support formus like PMDG allows. Uhm.. so you want access to *support* forums... *beforehand*... for a product you would not yet even own... Okay...
October 12, 20169 yr Uhm.. so you want access to *support* forums... *beforehand*... for a product you would not yet even own... Okay... Go check the PMDG support forums here, brother. Do you have access? ...okay.
