sounding like maybe their server is down and it's all just us.

Very strange. Instead of the message you guys get, mine says that my product needs to be activated and has a box for entering my serial number.

It really doesn't, though. On the main page, there's a Support drop down. Under that, you get two buttons. The very first one is a link to the official support function. This is also called out in the Intro Manual. If you are winding up here after clicking on something that one might think would direct you to official support, please let me know and I'll see if we can change it to be more obvious.

 

 

 

 

 

 

For those of you seeing this issue, it's likely two different issues coming together:

  1. A Windows update removing your key somehow (occasionally happens), such that you are required to activate again. If you get an activation window each time you boot the sim, then FlextNET might have been disabled. Submit a ticket and we'll explain how to fix this.
     
  2. The activation server occasionally needs to be taken offline for its own updates. In these cases, the activation attempt will not go through and you'll see that error. Try again now. If it doesn't work, submit a ticket.

Got a nice email from Ryan at PMDG. Said they had some server maintenance and we just happened to hit it while it was down.

 

So, back in the air!
