January 12, 20179 yr Takes less than a minute or two really. The feature I like the most is that I can then export the plan to both FSX & the addon aircraft I'm using. Once the flight plan is loaded in FSX it will appear in AS16 without any input. The flight plans are then in the FMC as company routes ready to use. In addition with the 777 PFPX will export the Route, Winds Aloft and something else which I've forgotten which is then received by the FMC. To be fair, SimBrief does the same except for Winds Aloft. For the winds aloft you have to pull them from Active Sky...it'd be nice if Active Sky did that for you automatically when you loaded your flightplan...as an option. January 12, 20179 yr When I had a look at SimBrief, it looked like you have to pay for the latest AIRAC. So not totally free. What's more, it is Navagrath who supply it. But no big deal being 28 days behind. As the month old FMS data is free. That would suit most people. The AIRAC police aren't going to come knocking on your door. I joined (no donation) Simbrief end of 2013 and tested it .... learn how to use it. Since then I have tested SimBrief a dozen or so times but for my planning I always ended up using FSBuild (program is on my PC no internet connection required). SIMbrief is free to Register, create an Account and become a member with your own Password to Log in and create a flight plan without a donation. Airac cycle 1503 (March 2015) is the default database for all members to use. I do have a Navigraph Airac subscription so I can use the current Airac if I choose to. While your flight plan is being created (Generated on-line connection) there is a popup screen that says : "Do you find Simbriefs flight planning useful? Please consider supporting me by making a small donation!" Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
January 12, 20179 yr ASN and AS16 both have a options setting to "load flight plan when loaded in the sim" - David Lee Ah, ok, thanks David. I never really understood what that meant. I generally don't bother loading the flightplan into FSX/P3D. I usually just enter it into the FMS of whatever aircraft I'm flying. Best regards, Neal McCullough
January 12, 20179 yr Wow. I never knew that. I always load the flight plan manually into Active Sky Next (I'm assuming if what you say is true for AS16 it should be the same for ASN). Can't wait to try that later. I think Ben from Airline2Sim said the same thing - he had been using AS and only recently found out about this feature too. From memory I think I read about it in one of the tutorial flights for the PMDG 777. Normally I just leave AS in live mode running whenever my PC is so then all I need to do it load PFPX and weather is ready to go and AS will get its plan once I load it in FSX. January 12, 20179 yr I've had it since the beginning. I only fly PMDG 737/777, and my only complaint is that they don't have a 777-300ER model for planning purposes. January 12, 20179 yr Author I went ahead and purchased PFPX. I like it. I don't find it that difficult, unless you're trying to add nuances that you can't effectively simulate anyhow. I had to alter some numbers for my B737 template to closer match the PMDG. I ran a test flight last night and PFPX over-predicted my landing fuel by 400 pounds. Not that much really considering I have no clue how long total taxi and APU time were. I don't think they were that long. I can program and get the plane configured in about 20 minutes, give or take using the short panel state. I still need to set up the other variants (-800, -900, -600). Is there an easier way to obtain the correct DOW, ZFW and other numbers for the PMDG? - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
January 13, 20179 yr still need to set up the other variants (-800, -900, -600). Is there an easier way to obtain the correct DOW, ZFW and not at my pc now but if you google you will find the info as I have done, I got the link on my main pc so when I get on I will post the link to you if I still got it. You right it not difficult to use the only difficult is the initial when you have to find the aircraft info to put it in the profiles Edit Just remembered if you go to the pfpx forum there are links and info for each aircraft good luck I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
January 13, 20179 yr Also don't forget if you specify a cost index in PFPX to use the same in the FMC. Johnny Crockett 7700K @5ghz | Asus GTX 1070 | G.Skill 16GB 3600 | P3D V4
January 13, 20179 yr Author Also don't forget if you specify a cost index in PFPX to use the same in the FMC. Yes, I tend to use the same CI, but I do know to match it between both. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
