Virtual CDU

Featured Replies

Hello Vaughan:

My tablet is an iPad, not Android.

But I can confirm that, yes, it stays connected for entire flights (one was 3 hours long in the B747 P3Dv4) without any issues of any kind.

Roberto

But it's a web browser open on your tablet right? The VA one is an app. For those that want VA to hurry, let them know on their forum here or send them a message at their website. Squeaky wheels get the grease.

I've used Marks app for some time with my Android tablet.  Installs and works without issues for me and I've got nothing but good things to say about his great support.

Simple instructions for full screen view.

I might give it a go if VA don't release their update by this weekend. I am switching over to v4 Friday. Want to go flying hopefully by Sunday (I take my time, got a ton of stuff to reconfigure, d/l. etc...)

I just tried Marks Remote CDU (have not purchased yet).

I cannot get my newly purchased / set up Insignia 10 inch Anderoid tablet to connect to Mark's Remote CDU on my PC (PMDG737 / FSX).

I can get a good connection from my PC using Internet Explorer but not FireFox:
http://localhost:32111

It will not connect using this string from my tablet using FireFox:
http://<your ip>:32111

Not my real IP .. just for example of what I used from FireFox App.
http://<10.0.0.123>:32111

For the VA CDU I purchased an App for tablet to connect to the VA CDU. But I get Network fails / disconnects.

Do I need to purchase an App to get Mark's working with my tablet?

Hi Vaughan:

I followed these steps, to obtain the right address, to insert in the URL address line of my iPad (I used Safari, so that I could create a desktop icon)

1) Open your flight simulator (not really necessary, to do this)

2) Open the SimServer

3) Once SimServer is running (I find it in the "hidden icons" triangle in the lower right area of the desktop), open it with a right click

4) in the list of actions, you will see one called: "Generate QR Code"

5) Place the mouse cursor on that line, and it will give you three lines, one for each of the PMDG aircraft (737, 747, 777)

6) Place the cursor on the aircraft you want (737 in your case)

7) it will give you two further options for the 737  (Left CDU or Right CDU)

8) Select the CDU you want, place the cursor on that line, and it will give you the exact address you have to insert. For example: http:\\192.168.1.15:32111

9) Use/copy that one

I assume that you computer and your tablet are on the same local network, etc. etc., for connectivity.

Good luck!

Roberto

PS: No, you don't need to purchase an app. If you decide to use it, you have to purchase a license

"8) Select the CDU you want, place the cursor on that line, and it will give you the exact address you have to insert. For example: http:\\192.168.1.15:32111 "

Using \\ or // ?, I had the correct address .. found it yesterday by using DOS command line ipconfig (for Windows PC) .

My error was using < ........> symbols in the http string.

Your example got me going (Marks CDU on my Tablet with "FMC time out" msg ... (do not have Flight Sim running ) but I used // and got rid of the < and >..

Thanks a lot ..

Oh boy!! "//" obviously. It doesn't matter how many times you read your own message to make sure everything is OK .......

But, I am glad it helped!

Roberto,

Right now the CDU is not in full screen on the tablet .. see screenshot.
And in this demo mode I cannot test it using live data inputs via CDU keys ..

After I create a desktop ICON for the Tablet will this display go to full screen?

Or, do I purchase it to get a CDU in full screen on the tablet?

Roberto,

Got an ICON for the 737NGX added to my Tablet Home screen.

Now the CDU on the Tablet just has some tablet Icons at the top and bottom .. almost full screen at this point.

Is this what the purchased version is like or is there a way to get full screen?

The image badly focused is my shaky camera ...

Hi Vaughan

I want to be careful as I obviously don't want to mislead you, so the best answer I have, is that MY licenced CDU shows up in full screen on my iPad.

I would suggest that you send an email to Mark, the developer, to make sure you get the correct advice.

Many regards,

Roberto

Mark Foti's SimServer works seamlessly for me on the 777 and 747.

Count me in as one more satisfied Foti SimServer customer. It's inexpensive, and Mark provides quick turnaround support. How this browser-based system can respond to iPad screen input so quickly and so reliably is beyond me, but I gave up on computer programming somewhere around FORTRAN 66.

I would leave Virtual Avionics behind if Marks app had some audible feedback when a key was pressed, really hope he adds this soon as it is the only thing that it lacks vs Virtual Avionics

Roberto,

Thanks for the follow up.

I wrote to Mark and asked:

Is it possible to get a totally full screen?
********************************************
Now I have some Tablet icons at the very top and bottom of the CDU display.
See screenshot. The focus is bad .. my fault in taking bad jpg .. your data is very nice.

Mark's reply today:
"that's as full screen as it gets. My android tablet looks similar."

So, with Mark's Remote CDU it is not a full screen display on a tablet.
