XP11 makes you 'clean house'

Featured Replies

Using XP11 and V4 here. All the previous versions have since been relegated to the boneyard.

Im using XP11 with 3TB of ortho-scenery as a my main sim and recently installed FSW because I was curious about True Sky. Will have a look on how that one plays out. Before that, I spend a view housends!! on FSX and P3D. Ditched those and never looked back.  Only missing thing is the Majestic Q400. BTW,  I like Il2 BoX very much as well. And DCS for the F5...

p3dv4 is ok, but xp11 is miles better imho. once we get active sky and a couple study level paywares people wont be able to complain.

Mitch,  If you "want to Orbx", suggest you get rid of P3DV3 and get V4.

That way, you have the two leading flightsims installed

Like you, my FSX is on the off-ramp..

Thank's Bert!  Will consider the advice. :)

Giving FSX the boot

Ditto, Mitch. Throw it backwards to the last century as far as I'm concerned.

Guys. I have so much other stuff going on in XP and P3D4 that I just don't have the desire to bury myself in more technical work to get some Orthos with layers into my sim.

I am hearing its great. I found some on the xplane.org downloads.

But is there more available for download? Are you guys able to upload your stuff for freeware download. I would love to see and try this stuff out.

There is zonephoto ( http://zonephoto.x-plane.fr/Cartes.php ) , SpainUHD ( http://www.spainuhd.es/ ), X-Italy ( http://www.x-italy.it/ ). I don't know if there are others.

There is OSM overlays with which you can complement the orthos ar simheaven ( http://simheaven.com/ )

No, as far as I know they're only orthophotos, so the standard default autogen show above them.

Simheaven, on the other hand, is not orthophotos, but only OSM overlays for 3d buildings, etc. with which you can substitute the default autogen.

Of course you have to follow the installation instructions and then put the correct scenery priority in the scenery_packs.ini file.

Thank you, OK this is helpful, I think I understand how this works now.

I had thought and perhaps it still correct that one can download orthophotos and build layers of objects onto those orthos.

Otherwise one can have orthos with default autogen showing through and or OSM overlays replacing the default stuff.

I'll try a sample area and see if I like this and also some SimHeaven stuff.
