How many is using it?is it only VRAM related or will it increase my overclocked CPU temp? Thanks Michael Moe It will put additional load on your system (CPU and GPU), no doubt. Up to you whether you consider the visual improvements worth it.. Bert
September 21, 20187 yr Well I tried the tweak and got some great results in scenery. FPS not noticeably affected, although was worried about power consumption in GPU-Z. However, it appears the same without the tweak. Would recommend. I use a 1080ti by the way.

It takes much longer to load but once it is up and going it looks great and I've not seen an impact on CPU. The VRAM loading runs about 7 GB. I see GPU loading on the SLI running about 17-20% so I expect that would increase with a single 1080Ti but not over the top. The visual improvement is worth it if your system is capable. Thanks will give it a try when i am back from holliday. I did noticed a 5 degree differents on the CPU going from =8 to =9 via P3D menu. Thanks Michael Moe Michael Moe
September 21, 20187 yr Moderator For me, the excessive loading time is the killer - looks great - just takes forever to load. And every time I want to make a quick change to a setting, I have to wait for the whole thing to load up again. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

I rarely do, and if I am going to be tinkering or doing frequent restarts then I go into my prepar3d.cfg [TERRAIN] section and change these lines: // HIGH_RESOLUTION_TERRAIN_TEXTURES=0 HIGH_RESOLUTION_TERRAIN_TEXTURES=1 TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10 To this: HIGH_RESOLUTION_TERRAIN_TEXTURES=0 // HIGH_RESOLUTION_TERRAIN_TEXTURES=1 // TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10 This takes maybe 30 sec. Save minutes of load time for each restart or reload. Dan Downs KCRP
September 21, 20187 yr Moderator Good point, Dan. I guess I'm being lazy. Probably should revisit the matter. :) Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
