What's the best business jet for P3D mid 2017?

Featured Replies

I guess it depends on the type of simmer that you are. Me thinks that the Carenado Premier 1 is an outstanding addon. I want to create a flight plan and request ATC clearance and let default atc vector me to destination's runway. The model is beautiful and the avionics get me from point A to point B. I'm not the only one who feels this way:

Carenado does have a negative reputation with the community when it comes to fixing bugs, but they have created some very nice airplanes at a reasonable price point. This is one of them.

The only thing I wish is that they add weather radar support to the p3d v4 version of the airplane.

Vatsim flying is a world away from default ATC vectoring though, you need to be able to complete any instructions given to you by the ATC controllers quickly and accurately, especially on busy online events.

So having working Vnav, FLC,  Dir-to, Sids and stars etc really helps here, Carendo products whilst looking great and working well within the confine of the sim and default planning/ATC  are not really up to the task of online flying, sadly few addons really are.

Oh how I wish for a business jet done to the level of PMDG, seems like Eaglesoft is staying with 32bit and so will soon be consigned to history and there is nothing else even close to being released.

very sad state of affairs really.

Thanks to Bert you can easily add the GTN 750 to the Premier 1. Some consider this a downgrade from a real Proline 21, but for this aircraft it's an upgrade.

I agree ES should be looking at p3d v4 first and send a message that 32bit ESP sims are dead. Anyone who has not moved up to v4 is missing a great deal of smoothness, stability, and performance increases. I implore the community to simply just do it. P3d v4 for me has been an absolute sim changer.

And for me not having any experience with this GTN 750 does that add everything needed mentioned above to successfully fly online and missing in the incarnation of Proline 21 found in the Carenado aircraft?

Glenn, where did you read that we are staying 32 Bit only? In this very thread we've said that 32 Bit Simulation Platforms remain viable AND that we will have a 64 Bit Platform Catalog as workload permits. At no time have we stated we would NOT have both 32 Bit and 64 Bit Catalogs.

We run and enjoy all the 32 Bit platforms such FSX Gold, FSX Steam Edition, and P3Dv3 in addition to P3Dv4. This way no one is left out....:gaul:

That's what I am planning to do with the Flightsimware Lear and see how I get on with it on Vatsim, like the OP I really need a break from the NGX and tubes in general

Eaglesoft have really left me scratching my head on hearing they are staying 32bit (for now) They haven't released anything for years and must have known about V4 being 64bit, everyone else knew well in advance and got their products 64bit compliant very quickly, quicker than I ever envisaged back when folk used to claim that getting ESP codebase and it's addons to 64bit was a massive hurdle that would take years.

Ron, by the time you have a product released for 32bit the market will have moved on dramatically. We are going to want native P3D v4 addons that take advantage of the extra VAS headroom and give us even more features, things that could not be achieved in 32bit.

Higher Def textures, pbr, VC raindrops/icing etc, we are ready for all that, but is Eaglesoft?

Good Morning Ron,

I know that eventually you will have 64bit support. I was hoping that it would be first on your list of must do.

BTW: I miss the CX v2 in P3D v4.

Thanks for helping me keep my money in my wallet Glynn :)

Fact is I found some really good clips on YouTube yesterday after writing my last post that convinced me 100% the kind of products developed by Carenado is not the kind of products I'm interested in.

Very stripped down systems compared to real life and even the parts of the systems remaining in Carenado's models often don't function as they should with very unpredictable results using them.

Pretty toys I guess would sum things up quite well and definitely not the kind of aircraft model I want to be in during a busy Vatsim event with lots of online traffic and full ATC coverage...

That is a good assessment. Carenado visual models are typically very nice indeed - they are highly skilled 3D modelers, and many of their piston GA Cessna, Beech and Piper aircraft are quite good in all respects, as they simply implement default FSX/P3D avionics via standard SDK techniques.

But their biz jet products with glass cockpits and FMS are typically awful. The aircraft look great, and hand fly pretty well, but the avionics are a disaster - especially the autopilot and FMS functions. I don't see that changing - every bizjet release seems to have the same bugs.

Eaglesoft is very different in that regard. Their implementation of a Honeywell Primus 2000 avionics suite in the Citation 750 is highly accurate, and I'm sure their upcoming releases will be equally good.

Glynn, the 32 Bit catalog is nearer than you may think. We get that folks want 64 Bit and they want it NOW.

Quality and realism, with rich feature lists takes time, be it 32 or 64 Bit. We are ok with not being first to the party, but please note that we will have a place at the table.:gaul:

Actually I can hardly wait for the Extreme Corporate Aviation Series Citation X 750 "Generation Three" to complete to 64 Bit RTM myself.

I think some of the concern is that it sounds like 64 bit development, from your own statement, is a best effort when we get time kind of thing. Considering the velocity of development efforts that are your primary focus, there is skepticism that a 64 bit version is anything but a long way down the trail.
