October 20, 20178 yr These are a set of scripts that I have written down to help me with VFR communications when using P2A. I though I'd share them here so others can use them if they want as there is not much focusing solely on VFR flight. This is a work in progress as I try document the different phases of flight. I would appreciate any suggestions/corrections that anyone finds. I will post updates when I make them. October 20, 20178 yr That is a lot of work on your part and it is appreciated. Thank you. Bill Loving P2A! Bill N7IBG
November 19, 20178 yr Hi, thanks for these great scripts. I am new to pilot2atc and use them to learn how atc works.
November 20, 20178 yr it would be useful also to have scripts for uncontrolled airport : i've just made a trip around catalina island , departure and arrival at KAVX , and i didn't know what to do in Pilot2ATC with only unicom and app/dep frequencies . It was a complete silent trip apart from the ATC chatter and me desperately calling ATC .
November 20, 20178 yr Author I will look at what is available for uncontrolled or "pilot controlled" airports. It is my understanding that the UNICOM would be used to query information (winds, active runway, etc) as you are approaching the airport. Normal communication would be done using the CTAF frequency with the position calls so that you and the other pilots can mentally paint a picture of what is going on (which runway(s) are in use and where everyone is). I don't think there will be much if any other than the querying of information that P2A will help out in the pilot controlled airports.
November 20, 20178 yr Author JeDa. I hope the scripts work for you. Keep in mind that these were written with considerations for ATC in the USA. I know there are some differences over in Europe but I have no direct knowledge of what they may be or how they apply to P2A. Also keep up the great videos!
April 5, 20188 yr Great document - Thank You! More items like this would be very helpful in the use of Pilot2ATC for VFR Pilots. Definitely, something that should be incorporated into the manual. August 20, 20187 yr Very helpful work! Thanks a lot. Concerning the point "uncontrolled airports", situation in Germany is like this: From small aerodromes to substantial regional airports (like EDGS, EDFE) you will find Info only. This are well equipped airports (e.g. Tower with radar, ILS, ...), but ATC is legally declared as Info and correctly reflected in P2A. But in reality in Germany, Info is (more or less) behaving like Tower, with strict order. Therefore, I opened the topic "Flying GA VFR in Germany: In reality, ATC Info behaves like Tower!". May be this also applies to other countries? Henrik
