  1. A tutorial flight without the AFE would be helpfull. The usage of the powercharts, the difference between high and low blower settings, when to change could be part of that tutorial and make things easier to understand.
  2. Look at this video series, it is quite helpfull. I am running 3x 1920x1200 in portrait using wideview=true and 0.8 zoom. But the zommfactor depends on the distance between you and the screens. i am happy with it. i use ezdok to switch between panel views (overhead, ifr only, radios without trackIR) and the general view of the cockpit with trackir. I only need trackIR in the pattern or on start/landing. the rest can be done by mouse.

Asysmetric thrust at takeoff after loosing an engine didnt sound too difficult too me - before i watched britjets great videos about it ( http://aerowinx.com/html/misc.html ) and tried it myself. The plane really tries to get away from centerline and steer away. With 2 clicks you can create the situation you want, load it and fly it. and fly it again. So simple. Thanks for the advice regarding the NOAA plugin, i am going to try this next time i use xplane as a scenery generator.
  4. Did you every try PSX networked with a friend? Dealing with a dead engine is one thing, but dealing with your copilot is another story - crm & the failure system are making every flight special.
  5. Look at their b377 if your are more into the civilian side of life. Especially great with the "Captian of the ship" addon from a2a. Regarding navigation: No DME on their b377
  6. I think i read they have changed them for the next build. So waiting is the key. Have a look at their forum, too.
  7. i bought the plane in march and really enjoyed it sofar. The engine startup is missing, so you start with running engines (strg+e). All other systems for a complete ifr flight are working - including the fms. fps-wise i didnt notice any problems compared to a2a planes. it works, so i didnt checked and bothered too much. ctd were no problem for me. based on some statements of real fliers of the kingair and compared to flight manuals its "on the numbers." Flight-/fuelplanning by hand works well. The next build as described on their facebook page: "moving. The engine and startup system is going to be in testing this weekend. Hopefully all will go well and it will be integrated next week." but there is no need to rush it if you are unshure about it: while youre waiting its only getting better.
  8. I am running a gtx 760 with 4gb vram. Performance is okay. No headroom for fancy filter settings though.
  9. i am using 3 x 24 dell tfts @ 1920x1200 but in portrait mode (3840x1920) You loose a bit of the horizontal viewing angle but gain a lot on the vertical side. this means you get a nice big instrumentpanel in the vc which makes flying a lot easier for me. combined with trackIR i am pretty happy.
  10. This is excatly why i love flight simulation! You can easily push yourself out of the comfort zone and have a great deal of fun doing it. And single sim-pilot resource managment is a real thing.

Hey, i am too puzzled why the psx sim is not really well know. the pricetag is very, very steep. but you can cut the cost somewhere else with it: instead of having multiple pc running multiple instances of p3d or fsx for everything, psx is very performance friendly so you can use old outdated pc not costing much. it even runs on my 8 year old laptop. Psx has its own weather, atc and huge failure system, so no need for any more costly addons. Psx is ONLY for the 747 and a standalone sim. you CAN enhance the outside view using fsx, p3d or xplane (which i use). Good luck choosing the right software & enjoy bulding!

Hey Phil, maybe the 747 from aerowinx would be a suitable match for you. systemwise you won't find anything better. you can have seperate 2d panels running on different or the same pc. regarding the switches and hardwareinterfacing i have no idea. i am using the aoerwinx 747 with a arcaze card and some switches. look at their really friendly forum and ask there for help. http://aerowinx.com/index.html and have a look at a review http://mutleyshangar.com/reviews/bc/psx/psx.htm Cheers!   14. YES! Exactly. Simming must be a challenge for me, i love the feeling of total overload. and with my lack of knowledge i am pretty fast reaching my borders and trying to push them. Take the a2a b377. lots to do, great fun, a lovely-ugly plane. or the GA planes of the same brand. or the psx 747 (with a great failure system). the dc6 will be a perfect match - for me & thanks.
  15. Heyya, This hobby is getting better and better every day. So many small things find their way into our vc increasing the immersion. the first time in the pmdg 737 was stunning, using the HUD even better. For example the aerwinx psx 747 has a working flight deck printer for your acars messages(that could be connect to your home printer if you wish). so a big thanks towards all the people working hard for our (and hopefully their) pleasure!

  18. hello, i am using 3 24" @ 1920 x 1200 in portrait orientation. thats something you should try aswell. with this setup you get a very big instrumentpanel making it very easy to read wether its a 6 pack of an a2a GA aircraft of the pfd (is that the right term?) on a 747 (using psx). try buying monitors with relativley thin bezels. Powered by a gtx 760 with 4gb and surround enabled. on the softwareside running xplane, p3d, dcs and psx. john edit: many people suggest using IPS panel technology. i cant tell wether they are worth it, but mine are all ips. especially for a portrait orientation the acceptable viewinangles are quite different. just try it with your current tftfor a while.
