The update or patch didn't fix anything for me. Still the same issues of Child window errors.

So close to moving back to Windows 7 just for FSX and P3D.

None of those issues affected my install

Cheers

Hello All,

Just an update for people lost like me.

Microsoft told P3D that the patch from yesterday was only for those who had the Windows 10 1703 installed and NOT the 1709.

I don't understand why they didn't release both of them together in one update but hey! So probably we wait another month (or less I hope!) to fix this.

Meanwhile can some of you with FSX SE edition write to Dovetail games as they need to work with Microsoft about this issue.  Here is the link we need them to know. I've sent many already http://dovetailgames.kayako.com/

Maybe just me but it really defies all logic in my book for MS to release a fix for just 1703 and not 1709. Think about it.... why would those that have updated to 1703 not also have updated subsequently to 1709? So did MS staff actually sit around a boardroom table and decide to fix 1703  and ‘ignore for now’ 1709? Even though they know that all 1703 users will have moved on to 1709 by the time the ‘fix’ update is released. It does not take much grey matter to figure out that releasing a fix exclusively for 1703 is rather like plugging a hole in a ship that has already sunk.

Utter nonsense.

I laugh at that too. I can't believe they made us wait a month and then suprised us with this!

I am nearly on to installing Windows 7 now.

How different could 1703 and 1709 be? Also I never had issues with 1703.

Interestingly I went to update tonight and it downloaded updates to 1703 and then told me everything is up to date, downloading 1709 doesn’t seem to be an option.

For windows 10 users, If there is a major update released to the public (Spring and Fall updates come to mind), you can always go here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and get it, even before your machine says you need an update.  Obviously, some would rather wait, while some would rather see what pain there is early.
Regardless, the option is out there.  You don't have to wait for your millionth in line queue on windows update to get it.

Well, let's all wait until the next major update and start another post - this one has nothing new.

shutting it down....
