Just Flight DC-10

Featured Replies

This is currently on sale for only €21 at FSPS Store. Is this worth buying, or is it something I'll probably never bother using? I mostly fly modern airliners, but I was thinking this might make a nice change.

Here's the link for anyone interested https://www.fspsstore.com/flight-simulation/just-flight-dc-10-collection-hd-fsx-p3d.html

They do not say a single word about systems, so i assume it is lite product, something similar to CS

Hmmmm....that's probably a bit of a concern. When I moved from FSX to P3D I had the PMDG 777, and I never repurchased it for P3D. Instead I bought the CS 777, and to be honest, I flew it once, and I wasn't overly impressed with it. So for me, CS doesn't make me jump for joy. And I wouldn't even consider myself a hardcore simmer that becomes overly involved with system depth.

Its advertised as Lite.

Has been described as 'middling; in another thread.

Anyone got it?

I bought it for 4.1 and am glad I did. I wanted a classic airliner without too much messing aorund to get it up and going. Definitely a Lite model. Nothing complex. Hand flys pretty nice on approach though, taxis a bit fast, a decent VC but icons don't show. I made some mods to the panel.cfg to get the windows in a sensible order. Also, this is an older CLS product updated, so if you had the old FSX one, then this is essentially the same for 64-bit. Good frames and overall performance. Only taken a few flights but so far I like it and I did not spend a lot.

I have it for nostalgia reasons as I flew jumpseat on a FedEx DC-10 many times.  The engine sounds are great.  But, the other sounds (clicks, dings, GPWS, etc.) that are in the Sound>dc10cls folder don't work in 4.1 and I noted this to JF and CLS but haven't made any progress with getting anyone to fix it or even acknowledge that there is an issue which has been very frustrating.  I've tried to see if I could fix it myself but have not yet managed to do so.

Are you getting cockpit sounds in 4.1 (please see my post above)?

How's the autopilot and navigation?

Just read some reviews. This product actually seems quite decent for 20 quid. It's on sale for another week, so I can have a think about it. I know €20 isn't a lot of money, but I've also just bought about another €150 worth of addons in the last week (well over my allotted monthly quota ) so I should probably be exercising some caution.

Rick,

Come to think of it, no. I'll take it out a bit later and see what's up.

Thanks Greg - I haven't been able to figure it out.  I contacted JF and they said that they would contact CLS.  That didn't prove fruitful so JF said to contact CLS directly.  After a few back and forth messages, I still didn't get anywhere as the folks at CLS didn't seem to understand the issue. I just sent another note today and maybe if others submit tickets they will address it - Rick

No luck here either, tried everything I could think of (whcih is not much). Attempted to emulate the RealAir method using Doug Dawson's gauge. It has me stumped and I get stubborn, so may have another go at it. Meanwhile I will try to contact CLS. Still, I like flying the big beast.

Best,

I like it also and the sounds that do work are very nice.  I tried Doug Dawson's gauge as well and could not get the cockpit sounds working.  Maybe more tickets will get their attention.

Don't waste your time.  The CLS products use an absolutely antique sound gauge, with a different interface.  I haven't looked at the code for that one in 7 or 8 years, so really wasn't planning on updating it.
