Getting Manuals Printed

Featured Replies

Anyone know if a place like Kinkos can take a .pdf file on a disc and print it/bind it? I want to get some of these huge manuals printed so I can learn to fly a little better. If anyone has done this, how much does it run?EDIT: OK, I just checked their site, and apparently they offer this service, and you can do it from your own PC! Just download a little program that acts like another printer, and you can get your bound documant at the local Kinkos. I guess we can leave this thread open to let other people know about this.

Yeah they do stuff like that. But you may not want to pay the $$.

Yeah, I'd have to check how much it was first. I tried the web based application, but it said it wasn't able to handle the file size. I guess I'll just have to go down there and ask.

Hii just came back from a place called 'officeworks' where i got 175 pages printed for very cheap. Kinoks offered to charge double the price + 10% surcharge!!!I suggest you look around, i am sure there are cheaper options.

Getting them professionally printed, whilst maybe a bit expensive, sounds a nice idea. After all, despite having easy access to pdf documentation on the pc, nothing can quite compare with having a good printed book to sit down with in a comfortable chair. :-)

I print mine onto A5 but the hardest thing I find is finding A5 folders of the right size and quality. Anyone in the UK know where I can obtain 50mm and 65mm white or brown A5 folders?

HelloI asked Kinko's here in the uk about printing the Flight1 ATR manualthe wanted

Printing onto A5 works well for me despite the folder issue as 500 sheets of A5 is about

Office Depot will print and spiral coil bind a 100 page pdf file for about $10. I believe it 6.5 cents per black and white page and $3.50 for the binding.Ted

Its toner lasts about 4000 pages in EconoMode (which gives good quality as well) and comes at 67 euros. 500 A4 sheets pack comes at 5 euros, so the cost per page is about:(67/4000)+(5/500) = 2.625, let's say 3 EuroCents per page, that is 3 Euros for a 100 page manual. Add to this another 2-3 euros for spiral coil binding. Not bad. :)Marco

I recently purchased a cheap printer and some cartridges for this very purpose. I've got about 600 pages to print out :-eek

The UK is a ripoff in many respects:1) The average house price is nearly

I bought an HP1020 small laser printer and I love it. With all the printing I do (charts, flightplans, manuals, etc) it pays for itself very quickly. They cost a little more up front, but it will save you tons of money and hassle when you aren't running to get ink cartridges every month or two. If you don't need color printing, a small laser is the way to go.

I've been using a neat "InkSaver" programme since 2004 and it has saved me a great deal. Try looking for digitalriver.com .Basically it provides you the option of how much ink you wish to use depending upon the quality required and asks this every time before you actually commence printing. For long text-only jobs I select "save 75%" which is the max but where text is accompanied by pictures which contain important detail I usually set it at 25%. Gary :-)
