A few things..:- with hi-res gauges you can't press transponder buttons to set the code- radio controls except for tuning and xfer are all non-clickable- set speed bugs (manually or the clickspot, both non-clickable,only works in 2D)- use the FMC DIRECTLY from the VC.. a small pop-up appears but that's not a big thing IMO..I know, they are not the biggest things but they do start to annoy after you've flown it for a longer time, especially since they are used on every flightAnd I HATE the MCP and overhead popups in the VC :-)That's about the only things I don't like about it!

for freeware check out Premier Aircraft Design, all their aircraft have pretty clear VC and are flyable from the them too. i like their CRJs and dash 8s. their latest dash 8s have a better flight model. william

Will check them out. Wilco's CRJ2004 is rather disappointing package for me.

their aircraft really shine if you can get your resolution higher than 1024x768. hope you like them. william

BAC1-11

I forgot to mention Dreamfleet's Baron. ITs VC is very nice too for a GA aircraft. And its also a non turbo Twin..which comes with the reality XP GNS530.Manny

You beat me to it Len, if you're referring to Dave Maltby's awesome BAC1-11 and if you take into account that he didn't do VCs until very recently it's incredible. Anyone who hasn't tried this aircraft, you gotta experience it!!!

>Captain Sim 757 bar none. nobody else has come close to the>level of quality they got (in an airliner). >we arent talking about looks only. the captain sim is all show and no go>PMDG overhead is weak and their textures are all around>lacking... >not with high resolutions and a good computer, especially the queen, simply amazing, by far the best looking VC out there, destroys the CS 757 in functionality, framerates, and looks>>leveld is a hit and miss. crystal clear gauges and decent>overhead. the actual shapes though are 1998 in appearance.>side windows, panel details etc. >and a lack of a few basic functions that should be able to be used in the VC make it disappointing to me and not applicable for what this person wants

> for freeware check out Premier Aircraft Design, all their>aircraft have pretty clear VC and are flyable from the them>too. i like their CRJs and dash 8s. their latest dash 8s have>a better flight model. williamwhile I enjoy them as well, they arent detailed, they lack most system functionality, and the graphics are far from crystal clear. they are very well made and a joy to fly, but can you compare it to something like the LDS or PMDG, no way

well, they aren't payware quality but they do have most instruments that most freeware aircraft have and everything that's there works. i have my resolution up high enough so that it's pretty clear for me, almost crystal. the panels are pretty close to the real thing as the real CRJs have an "empty" look to them compared to other aircraft. not sure what you mean about lack of detail, it's there. if there is any it might be in order to allow for smoother game play. crank up the resolution just to see what they can look like, then put it back to where you normally keep it. their aircraft are pretty frame rate friendly. pretty good for freeware. william

Anyone have a opinion on the VC from The Super 80 distributed by Flight 1? :-hmmm

They use mainly default gauges, there are no systems modeling, and the textures are blurry for the most part. not LDS or PMDG quality but still fun to fly around in.I dont need to crank up any resoultion as I always play in 1600x1200 w/ 6x AA and 16x AF

>we arent talking about looks only. the captain sim is all show and >no goit does what it says it does. default MS navigation and functions until they release their last block. It hasn't dropped me in the water yet (unlike some others over the atlantic..) and he is asking about best looking so i think it fits... >not with high resolutions and a good computer, especially the queen, >simply amazing, by far the best looking VC out there, destroys the >CS 757 in functionality, framerates, and looks1600x1200@8xAAi think i got the graphics covered.... their photoreal textures have that unnatural dimmed shine in a pitch black night. and i haven't managed to enter either the lavatory or the little storage room in the cockpit. framerates are the same, if not worse than the CS. one of two pacakges never claims full functionality at its present stage so you cannot possibly even use this as the basis for functionality...>and a lack of a few basic functions that should be able to be used >in the VC make it disappointing to me and not applicable for what >this person wantsdepends.. i've been flying from the vc lately and it does just well. the gauge clarity is unlike anything else so it is very clear and functional.

I think that it is one of the "clearest" VC I've ever seen. Not only panel, but all around. You can even read all the labels on the fuses. Dave Vega
