TBM with GNS750 to Telluride

Happy New Year Guys!

Getting into GA flying and have to say I'm really enjoying the break from the tubliners.

Took a flight in the awesome TBM850 with the RXP GTN750 from KDEN to KTEX.  Just picked up the Orbtz KTEX and wanted to see how she looked.

Okaaayyy....I was in Dallas and had to get to Denver to take the trip to KTEX....soooo....flew this lovely AA 737 on a beautiful dawn departure....taxiing to the active while a Company 'Bus launches into that awesome sky.

Now it's my turn....Downtown Dallas below and to our left as we rocket out on 17L

Made it to Denver ok.....and the taxi was almost as long as the flight...LOL...one could take screenshots of just the taxis in KDEN that airport is so huge and spread out.  Had to take a cab to Signature to pick up the TBM...Anyway.....we're off on the BAYLR3 departure and just getting over the mountains.

Gorgeous view from the pilot's seat.

Right side looks just as nice!

I usually have the GTN on my tablet, but pulled it into view to show you how I use it to navigate (It's so simple even a noob like me can use it with out any lessons).  Below you see I moved the map over to KTEX where the GTN is superimposing the approach plate on to the screen, reviewing the approach while enroute and letting the AP fly her.  You'll see my plane icon on it a few pics down as we approach the airport.

One thing I love doing is discovering info about different airports I fly over.  I noticed this one just about to go under the windscreen and ....I just cursored over the airport on the screen and hit the Waypoint Info button.

There we go...Gunnison Crested Butte airport...with all the info I'd ever want about it just a few clicks away.  So cool!  Maybe I'll land there on my way back to Denver?

Just a "glam" shot of this stunning bird in her element.

OK, Steve's plane icon is now on the map, heading to CONES.

Turning final.....how simple can a tricky approach like this be with the GTN?

Flaps at the 1st notch, gear coming down.

Not sure why the VASI always shows low...I think my sight picture looks pretty much on path, don't you agree?

Almost there!

Hello Shadow!  I missed you and its so good to see you made it to Telluride with me.

FF0a9P.jpg

The FBO told me to hold to here while they find me a spot....pretty busy here with all the rich folks wanting to hit the snowy slopes...I bet they try to shoehorn me in between that Falcon and Lear......

a82KsM.jpg

Sure enough....they took so long to get a tow dolly to me that I just spun her around and backed her in with some reverse thrust...hehe....That'll teach 'em to make me wait for ground services. LoL  (Guess a little TBM doesn't rate the attention those massive biz-jets do)

Aj48m6.jpg

Sure...after I shut down and start unloading they get a dolly hooked up.  Such a sweet looking piece of machinery!   That bronze color is spectacular.  My favorite by far.

uJeHeS.jpg

I decided to push her back a little so that my long nose would not tempt those huge Gulfstreams to clip her off with a wingtip.

That poor guy....he swept the same spot the whole time!

Went into the FBO and started planning my next flight....maybe I'll take the CJ2 out next.

WOW a fantastic set of shots....I remember driving thru Gunnison and seeing that airport and the reservoir and visiting Black Canyon. I love the more scenic Mountain Village approach that starts at Red Mountain.....love the ORBX customized airports

Really like bronze and green TBM850...you need to check out the 500TP Malibu Meridian G1000!

Thanks HL!

Yeah really went crazy with the ORBX stuff with the sale this year.  Got some Alaska scenery as well and have been flying up there too.  Really breathtaking up there.

I like the green TBM too.  Not sure about the Malibu....Too much like the TBM and I only need one fast turboprop single.

Nice shots.  How does you use the GTN with the TBM850? Just assign it from the config tool and have it taking over from the carenado G1000?  Any panel.cfg modification?  Certainly a very interesting use of the GTN unit.  Different approach than modders like Bert and company.

Hey Vu,

No mods for this one other than using the default RXP tool and making it a pop-out window vs in the virtual panel.  Takes over the lateral navigation from the TBM default when you put it in GPS mode.  Follows the line perfectly.  Bert and Company do a wonderful job with the F1 GTN.  I've seen Ryan have success with an xml mod that lets the RXP GTN use the F1 GTN settings to get it in the panel, but I actually prefer to use it on my tablet so I don't need the mod.  I just use an Android app that works with my main screen to add the tablet as a 2nd monitor, then I just drag the GTN to it.  Love actually operating it with my fingers as you do in the real world.

Hehe yeah Ryan....not sure why this big fan thingy is not shrouded like all the other ducted fans I usually fly!

Anyway, we do fly opposite ends of the flightsim world.  I'm flying on your side now, you need to step up and post some tubliners shots of you flying the heavy iron.

I like the big fan thingy in front though....sure puts a breeze out when it's hot!

Just to shed some light: this is a XML gauge which intercepts standard F1 GTN commands has they are sent from the 3D model buttons/knobs, and converts them to Reality XP GTN 750/650 Touch commands!

The purpose is to ease integrating the Reality XP GTN to aircraft VC where the vendor only offers another GTN pre-configured model.

Ahh...knew it was something like that Jean-Luc.

Like I mentioned in another post, I don't think I'd get that deep into GA flying without this addon....makes it so easy to navigate and defeats the shortcomings of the default nav equip in these otherwise great planes.

Now...if you could only figure out a way we could use our Navigraph subscriptions to update the database, you'd probably quadruple your sales and could easily charge an extra $30 for it!   I know...may never happen, but I'm a dreamer, hehe.

I'll be posting some more shots of me using more of the great features of the GTN soon (In the Citation CJ2 this time)

Thanks again for the wonderful software!

Nice shots of tbm850 to Telluride, interresting points of view of this aircraft and montains. Happy New Year.

Often I choice classic cockpits. Glass are more difficult to set rapidely, except with gtn 750.
