May 13, 200620 yr I'm one of those "by-the-book" type guys and I mainly fly on VATSIM. I was curious to know if this program is right for me. I do not know anything about FS2Crew and what its all about. I try to get as realistic as possible, simulating every aspect of flight. I ran across this website and what struck me was this "maximum realism" statement. Now you don't have to tell me twice, I'd be on the ordr page already if I knew a little more of this product. Can anyone that has this new product of the 767(believe it's new) let me know what its all about and if its right for me. I couldn't really get a good understanding of what exactly it'll do to boost the realism. Thanks guys!
May 13, 200620 yr it simulates having a crew on borad with check list's and the likes. Check the 767 page as it has dowload's with demo video clips. Al Stiff
May 13, 200620 yr Author Commercial Member FS2Crew does more than just the flight crew, we also simulate the interaction with engineering, operations and cabin crew, just as you would as if you were flying the line. All of this is modelled on First Choice Airways; it's a pretty faithful recreation of their SOPs. All the procedures, scans/flows, etc., I don't just pull that stuff out of the top of my head :-)All the best,Bryan B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
May 13, 200620 yr As an avid VATSIM Flyer and controller, I can tell you, that FS2CREW with VATSIM is an Incredible experience. The 2 go hand in hand. Since a lot of the FS2CREW Commands are done with a Primary and Secondary key command, you can program them to your yoke, and keep your hands on the wheel at all times. Exactly what I do.
May 13, 200620 yr This is a cliche but.. wouldn't fly without it :-)It really brings the missing element of another "pilot" into the cockpit to share the workload. Planes like the 767 are IRL always flown with two pilots, and especially since the LDS model is very faithful to the original systemswise, FS2Crew is a huge leap toward realism. Planes like the default 737 are fine to fly alone since it only has a few buttons and knobs to handle. It does not replace a real human being, so of course it has limitations, but once you learn it, I would say it's the next best thing. These days the only thing keeping me from buying some of the finest and most complex airliner simulations available is that there is no FS2Crew available for them.I own all versions and I'm proud to fly it's colours :-)
May 13, 200620 yr I was a great fan of FS2Crew for the PMDG 737 but then the LDS 767 (minus FS2Crew) came along followed by the PMDG 747, so the 737 was put back in the hanger. For past few months I have been into some of the very fine payware GA aircraft that have been released. Have downloaded FS2Crew but yet to purchase as I thought I would refamiliarise myself with the LDS 767 before doing so. The only thing is that the LDS 767 already comes with a degree of FO functionality (unlike the PMDG 737) plus it has Australian accents which I assume I would lose with FS2Crew - you don't hear many American accents on Qantas flightdecks! I'm afraid this is a bit of an issue with me as our hobby is so dominated by the USA - go VOZ!Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." May 13, 200620 yr Sounds good so far, but is all this just voices I'm going to hear simulating those procedures or are they actually going to execute it themselves?
May 13, 200620 yr The FO executes the procedures that are SOP for the FO for the modelled airline. He properly positions the switches as per the checklists and flows for the flight phase as you command. He will raise the gear on a positive rate during that very busy time. You can purchase Fscrew via the Flight1 wrapper with a 30 day return available. From the description of your sim habits, I doubt a return will be necessary. Enjoy!Bob... Bob Prince
May 13, 200620 yr Well I've read around different places as well(Should of done that in the first place, eh? ;) ) and I really like what I hear. I definitely have to pick this up later tonight and play around with it. Oh, one final question. Those random bird strikes and other failures. Is there a way to turn those off completely, or avoid them? I've watched the video and it nearly made me jump out of my seat. I couldn't imagine what I'd do when I'm focused on the MFD. =) Thanks for the help guys!
May 13, 200620 yr One way to turn off bird strikes and other failures is by skipping two minor checklist items: the "oil check" after engine startup and the "manual event" check after obtaining cruise. Seems like you're the type of person who'll really enjoy this addon because it will greatly decrease you're workload, but since you know all the LDS767 systems anyway, you'll have insight into (and appreciate) what the FO is doing to help you out.
May 13, 200620 yr Author Commercial Member Bruce,A full British voice set is now available for FS2Crew 767. It's available in the Avsim file library.I know an Aussie accent is quite different from a British accent, but it still sounds closer to home than a US accent. Cheers,Bryan B. May 13, 200620 yr It's often thought that FSCrew complicates the FS9 experience, and so it does, in as far as you have to follow the procedures correctly in order to get the most out of FSCrew. However, it also enables you to do much more than you ever could alone. I doubt if I could start the PMDG 737 from cold and dark or operate the LDS 767 alone. But the FSCrew FO does most of the donkey work (in fact I have to say the Jetset captains seem to do next to nothing until the take-off roll starts - sorry Capt Barrington) so you get a hugely more immersive experience for relatively little effort. Also, the FO is a bit of a Smart-Alec, so if you do do something wrong, he'll probably challenge you on it, whereas flying alone, you probably be heading downwards fast.To sum this up in 2 words - Buy ItI wouldn't fly without it
May 13, 200620 yr Well worth buying it makes you feel that you`re actually flying with an airline, believe me this is pretty close to flying in reality, this makes a change for me " to do nothing " as I`m in the right seat in the real world. Just downloaded the Brit sounds cant say in that keen on them, there too British, so am I but I fly for a US outfit so gotten used to the US chat. Liked the food file though "1 from Business class and 1 from Economy" nice touch cant say my Captain would like the economy food though.....FS2Crew works well with the LDS 763 and VATSIM, as I`ve already said well worth the outlay. Chris
May 13, 200620 yr I certainly agree with reducing the work load comment. I don't fly Europe enough to be comfortable with the small difference in procedures and rules. But I decided to participate in a European fly in last month on VATSIM. As luck would have it, I was directed to go around and given rapid heading and speeds changes to get back in line. My First Officer performed brilliantly! :) Once the GA button is hit in the 767, the sequence begins for cleaning up the plane on my commands. It went flawlessly and I could concentrate on flying the aircraft. Once clean and stable another landing brief was performed and an uneventful landing completed on VATSIM. Great fun! Bob... May 14, 200620 yr Thanks Bryan, yes British accents don't sound too out of place on ozzie flight decks.Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened."
