Revitalised My Sim:-)

Featured Replies

Been feeling blue and unwell lately. I've also been getting really bored with P3D, so I made a decision yesterday to cheer myself up a little, and inject some new life into the sim.

Right now, I'm not sure who to fear the most; my bank manager or my wife;-)  Mmmmmm.... My wife's a lot closer:-)

So I spent a small fortune on addons today.  Wow, is that FSLabs Airbus a lot of money!!!  With UK vat, it worked out to over £130 GBP.  Also got ActiveSky, ASCA and a few more aircraft.

I guess the printer's gonna be busy for while knocking out the A320 documents.  Bedtime reading for later;-)

Haven't used ActiveSky in a good few years.  WOW has it moved on.  Fabulous piece of software. When used with their Asca clouds, it's like a whole new sim!  Hoping I'll be even more impressed with the bus....

Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

I would say those purchases are good investments in your future well being.

I don't have the FSLabs A320 but I am just learning their Concorde-X. With every new aircraft that I purchase I have a tradition of trying a few touch and gos around the pattern without reading any of the literature. This Concorde-X is the first aircraft that I could not do that successfully. After a few tries I had to stop and look up a few things in the manual. Then I took the tutorial flight from London to New York. That took me 4 nights to complete! Now I am just about finished reading the 275 page manual front to back. The amount of detail in this aircraft is amazing. The manual has been very interesting to read but probably because I am an engineer. It is obvious that the developers of the Concorde-X are very passionate about the plane. If the A320 is anything like the Concorde-X then you are in for a real treat.

On my tutorial flight across the Atlantic I realized that those flights are going to be pretty boring with the default weather so I also installed Active Sky to liven things up.

I hope both of these will help with your blues!

AS and ASCA are awesome, a must have in my opinion!

Do what i do regarding the house boss(also know as wife) never tell her about the digital purchases, its all freeware, only the hardware purchases are paid...because she's going to see(unless is something internal...you have to assemble before she arrives home), but its all under 50€!

The other huge GAME CHANGER for me is Chaseplane.  What a seriously great piece of kit.

And that coming the worst of cynics when it comes to 'beta releases'.  I've always been extremely sceptical of paying to be a beta tester, but these guys have changed my entire outlook on it.  Chaseplane has done what I thought would never happen;  the removal of OpusFSi from my PC.  Not because its no good.  On the contrary, I think Opus is great.  It just can't compete with Chaseplane.  This beta release is waaaaay better than many so called 'finished products'.

Not naughty as long as you pay all the bills and your husband responsibilities are up to date ;)

With this you avoid a lot of nagging!

I hope you enjoy the FSL A320, too....it's been a blast getting to know this comprehensive sim a bit. Regarding the docs, pay attention to the Intro Guide and Normal Procedures pdfs in particular; those will have you in the air quickly. The tutorial pdf is helpful as well. For much more advice, guidance, and learning, check out Blackbox711's YouTube A320 playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-PsdxhEs-s&list=PL24XRTIr2OjIe7PvRwS50Lf74nZFUeE9x

Enjoy!

CYWG

ActiveSky = weather engine; injects realtime, historical, or custom-defined weather conditions into the sim

ASCA = custom cloud, cirrus, and sky textures and cloud structures, all of which is tightly integrated with ActiveSky
