So the only thing you´d have to do is to add them, decrease fuel consumption and slightly change behaviour in the air

I hope to see the EFB in 777 cockpit before any MAX 🤩

LOL!

I just love how you make it sound like they only need to change two or three items in a configuration file...

If it sound like that, I´m sorry. I know it´s not that only.

'ah screw it, we'll leave the FMC data as it is', would you?

Did they make changes to the systems which do not have anything to do with the differen winglet type (there are such things, yes)? I don´t think so. What I was talking about: The Airbus generally got a refresh of the whole computer. Things look the same, but they aren´t.

Well then...

Guys. If you can convince me that there isn´t that much less to do to add scimitar winglets (no, not only add them) than to create the Boeing 737 MAX (with the existing NGX as a base product (well, as long as you need it as a base product))...CONGRATULATIONS.

@Chock I thought it was clear to everybody that scimitar Winglets weight more than normal Winglets on the 737. I also thought it was clear, that you´d need less engine power with scimitars. But hey: Now I know, there is people out there, I have to tell which things affect what. I´ll try to remember for the future. But: Don´t expect me to post something like that: Scimitar winglets->more lift/less drag->less power needed->lower fuel consumption->lower weight in general->lower fuel consumtion again->again lower weight->and so on. That just takes me too long if you can understand;)

In all honesty, there's a lot more to it than just the visual aspect of the new winglets.

First you have the CFM56-7BE engines introduced in 2014. They give a noticeable improvement too. Then the Sky interior. Common to MAX so worth modelling for use on that version. You have the LED lighting. Far brighter view of the runway ahead at night. Cockpit window blinds are now standard fit. Yes please. Better Wx radar, Comms and nav boxes. The Gables multi unit is modelled for the QOTS2 so that should be easy.

The rain visual feature is nice, and all the above would need putting into the base model before a MAX expansion.

I just need a decent time line to know if it's worth payingh up for a P3D version of NGX in the meantime....

Mark, I don't expect to see us start beta testing the next NG until next spring at the very very earliest, wouldn't be surprised if it were later.  I'm just guessing at that and my guessing is based on how fast I've seen things move through the process since I started doing this with the MD-11 ten years ago.

I wouldn’t even bother thinking of a timeline until NG3 is officially announced. Yes they have said it is coming but not in a thread dedicated to it pinned at the top of the forum. We just got the -8, let’s live in the present rather than the future. 🙂

Mark-

The current NGX is superb, but needs some updating. There are so many things I would like to see updated in the NG version, I’m loathe to consider the Max yet. She is an incredible platform to hand fly, and I have enough time in her to put each main down exactly where and when I want.

When she gets her upgrade- she’ll be pretty fantastic! Like Dan, I believe it will be some time yet (or in RSR speak, “soon”). If you’re not in a hurry, wait and concentrate on the 744/-8 lines. If you want something now- I don’t believe it’s money wasted- she’s too good!
