How do you fly the Legacy? (perf numbers)

Featured Replies

People with the "old" RA Legacy - the turbocharged one.  How are you flying it?  What numbers are you using for climb/cruise/descent?  Power settings etc?

Since it's experimental nothing is really published.  I have found a few things.

Generally On climb I'll throttle back a little for 36" at 2600 rpm.  And just reduce mixture once in a while to keep the EGT under 1600.  For cruise I like to go to about 17,000 as that gives best speed... and maybe I'll do 33" and 2500 rpm.  Gets about 280 ktas.

Curious what others do?

Fly it by the seat of my pants - with the Turbo option disabled...

The sound of the turbo engine somehow does not agree with me..

There's definitely a turbo charged whine hehe.  I haven't flown with normally aspirated version in eons hehe.

Generally fast and sometimes upside down

Sorry, I’m sure that’s not helpful.

Ryan,

My numbers are very similar. Climb 36" 2500 rpm cruise 32" 2400 RPM. I love that nimble aircraft.

+1 in fact I have removed all of my add on aircraft from Prepar3d and fly nothing but the Legacy. The thing just looks good and performs even better. It's too bad that RealAir is no longer in the hunt. The fact that they put together this kind of product that works better than all the other GA add ons and it was built before we ever heard of P3d I think. I just plain got tired of all the planes that "almost work"and "are great except for" and developers whinning about how tough it is. My hat is off to RealAir.

It really bums me out that this aircraft is unobtainable for me...  it is just the perfect GA aircraft for how I want to fly.

Pointed installer at P3Dv4 root directory and replaced sound file with 64 bit version...

I missed this topic. I created a kind of "performance spreadsheet" for the turbo version of the Legacy

Here it is. Fuel flow may vary according to external conditions, but usually TAS is quite precise. I like to fly @FL200, 2400 RPM and 30" which gives an impressive 300 KTAS.

I also reported the medium tank oxygen autonomy for each flight level.

This is only a sheet which is used in a "flight planning" spreadsheet that I created for my Legacy world tour.
