Hellow!

Cesar Wilkins here!

I just got the venerable 777 from PDMG a few hours ago.  Now im trying to do my maiden flight.

I cant use the Zoomed left outboard DU, no plus sign over it, so cant make it bigger...  And the others DUs works but cant be moved around!!!.  I dont have a 32inch or so monitor so to see the altitud is almost imposible unless i zoom too close the VC.  Sorry for any bad english.  Hope is just a CFG line that needs to be corrected!.

Any suggestions???

I see you found the solution in a nearby thread.  There is an option that enables the popup if you want to try that.

Your maiden flight should be Tutorial #1, be sure to spend time with the Introduction document as well.

Are you using P3D v4? Because PMDG added an option in the simulations section that disables Captain's PFD pop-up by default, as some users have reported a CTD after long haul flights. But what Dan said is correct: your first flight should be Tutorial #1, ideally AFTER you've looked through the FCOM and PDF tutorials, and watched a few YouTube videos too. Most (read: 99%) of the commonest questions are answered in one of those places.

Thanks people.  I used to fly the "competition" version in P3D V3, now in V4 is the PMDG.  The first is more "friendly" :D

I did the tutorial flight.  All was good, only needed to check for actual OMDB charts.  Anyway in tutorials allways things works fine LOL!!!

Am I the only one who DIDN'T fly tutorial 1?

No. I flew the 737 NGX tutorial so I figured; yoke in same place, throttle in same place, engines in same place, wings in same place. Everything bigger but same.

I paid for that thinking over the next few flights. Then I watched Kyle's YouTubes and all now good.

Yeah, this is where most run into issues. If you can manage, then fine, but where I draw the line is assertions of bugs.

"I didn't read the manual, but a Boeing is a Boeing and it didn't do what I thought, and I know this is a bug."
"Firstly, no. Secondly, RTFM. Thirdly, there's an old saying about assumptions..."

For what it's worth, even I read the documents to adjust to the differences, and I also fly the tutorials. Can I get by? Probably. Is it better if I double check? Absolutely.

...and if I didn't, I'd double-check before I run off to a forum to make an accusation.

Welcome to your life Kyle - time and time again I see people postings bug reports/ "faults", etc - and from the posts it's painfully obvious they haven't RTFM. I don't tend to reply or try to help those folk.

For the record - I have RTFM, well, really quite a hell of a lot of it. I skipped the revisions - and that's a fair chunk.

The thing is, people aren't prepared to pour over 3000 pages of documentation, they just want to jump in and fly. I'm embarrassed to admit that even I did that too, then when I found out that I literally cannot fly the damned plane, I started to RTFM. Even now, after a year of flying the 737, I'm still finding out new things, like the IAN approach system, where the FMA announces FAC and GP instead of VOR LOC and GS.

I didn't ask anyone to read 3000 pages of docs. I specifically stated the Intro Manual. Just like assertions of bugs, don't be so quick to provide an excuse for something that wasn't even asked.

If someone wants to point out a bug, I'm asking something pretty simple:
Verify it isn't a misunderstanding first. The common things are in the Intro Manual, and I'd argue most of the false bug assertions will get caught there. From there, I'd expect someone to take a glance through an FCOM, and in that case, CTRL+F to double check. This isn't 1990 or earlier. I'm not asking anyone to thumb through pages and scan to find an answer. Computers can do that for you, and incredibly quickly.

It's the fact that there are 3000 pages of documentation to begin with. New simmers just blank out and don't even bother to read the intro manual, and then run into a brick wall, ask for help here, get rejected and told to RTFM, and one of two scenarios may occur: Either they RTFM, or they rage quit and give up on simming. I'm not faulting PMDG or providing excuses, I'm providing a plausible explanation to why so many simple to answer questions get asked here.

So, in a similar vein, because so many buttons, switches and knobs simply exist on the deck, people just blank out and don't bother? I don't agree with this line of logic.

Either way, I don't care if people read it or not, as long as accusations don't follow. If someone fails to read at least the Intro and then marches into the forum to start claiming things are bugs that are clearly outlined in the Intro as quirks of the aircraft or the sim? I don't think there's a valid excuse for that. Screwing up on your own because you didn't read? Fine. Asking questions because you didn't read? Ehhhh...I'd argue that it's asking a lot of people to do the work for you, but there's nothing wrong with it. Claiming something is a bug because you didn't read? Nope.

It's like going into a restaurant and ordering salmon tartare and getting upset at the waiter that it was served raw, even when the menu said:

Salmon Tartare - MKT
A delicate raw salmon dish, served with avocado, olives, and tarragon.
