April 22, 20188 yr I have literally tried everything to fix this problem in 4.2.... I literally just gave up and am waiting for 4.3. So annoying.

You might not have tried this, but if you did it might help someone else. This is what worked for me when I had tried everything else: -Open prepar3d.cfg -Go to the [ATC] section, select all of it and copy. -Delete it. -Save the file. -Paste [ATC] section again in the same place. -Save the file. Now run P3D again and ATC should work. Hope it helps. J.C. "Not all those who wander are lost." - J.R.R. April 23, 20188 yr Deleted the config file and the shaders installed client only 4.2 atc problems and some weird exit to desktop no crash. Installed 4.1 again no more problems. Raymond Fry.
April 23, 20188 yr I tried numerous "fixes" to rectify this problem; the only solution (that worked for me) was installing 4.1. Mike Mann
April 23, 20188 yr OK, I am gonna share my experince with that issue it might help you guys. I installed v4.2 and deleted the cfg as I had been advised and the ATC worked fine with no peoblems. The a week ago, I messed with my key assignments and instead of reassigning them again, I just copied a backup standard.xml file I was keeping forgetting it was from 4.1 and after starting P3d, the ATC window was greyed out. It took me a while to realize my mistake. Just deleted and reassigned my keys again. I am not saying this is your problem, but I just wanted to bring it to your attention just in case it might help. April 23, 20188 yr I had created a saved flight as my default in an earlier version and had the grayed out ATC commands when I updated to 4.2. To fix it, on the startup screen, I started with the F-22 at Eglin and saved that as my default flight. re-started sim. atc works fine. recreated my regular saved flight using my payware aircraft, and other location (just as before, except under 4.2) saved that and made it my default. re-started sim again. Like magic, ATC has worked with no issues at all under 4.2 since I did that over a month ago. I have heard you can go in and delete the specific file for the default flight as well, but I did it the lazy way. Best of luck
April 23, 20188 yr Author I suspect it could be my default saved flight. Will try resetting it next time. Thanks bs AMD RYZEN 9 5900X 12 CORE CPU - ZOTAC RTX 3060Ti GPU - NZXT H510i ELITE CASE - EVO M.2 970 500GB DRIVE - 32GB XTREEM 4000 MEM - XPG GOLD 80+ 650 WATT PS - NZXT 280 HYBRID COOLER
