Ground Environment Pro is out!!

Thanks Anthony, I'm sure Carl will get this sorted out.I apologize if I may seem a bit harsh, or 'miffed', but after taking many hours this weekend setting up Pro, finding this issue 'at the end of the rainbow' was a bit disturbing. Thanks to 'the team' in advance.

No PP, AS gets its data from private sources and not from NOAA. Yes, many times the data is close or the same!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://dot.kelder.net:8080/fseconomy/

Thanks for that clarification!

I have nothing against Metar-based, darker or lighter, ground and sky textures. Still, IMO, BEV's package offers far more texture choices than GE when we seek to improve our FS environment. For instance, GE fall textures, at least for Eastern Canada and New England, do not match the quality of BEV textures. GE looks like gloomy barren November whereas BEV, after choosing the right forest cover, offers the perfect picture of gloriouly colored October.

I like flying out of coastal regions like Newport Oregon and there is no data for that area.. There is nothing for Eugene either, just Portland.. Its like watching the local news out here on the coast, the only thing that matters is what is happening in Portland.. Definately needs more airports! I ended up just forgoing the weather and texture sets and just using the base textures. I do like some of the sky textures and haze effects though... Can't wait for the next update!

Does GEP by any chance allow you to copy / paste in a METAR manually? If it does, this could be an interim solution?

No, but it does have a option to search existing/availiable METARs 'per conditions'.So...what I do, is search for a similar METAR condition similar to the area I am going to fly from/to, and use that location to load my textures (As I have been rarely flying where an availiable METAR is provided in Pro). There is an expansion coming in an update...and I can't wait...will make things a lot easier.

Good question;, I just installed the Pro and did overnite load of the texture sets and think I figured out how to turn it all on, but still have the same question as to "do we uninstall the GE now that the Pro is in, leave it with both installed, or uninstall both, remove GE, then install the Pro"............asked this in another post but forgot where. }( thanks for the help B42L8

Dick, You can run both if you want as an alternative, but GE Pro has textures that are more widely varied and updated from those used in GE, so really GE is redundant. I've already removed GE to save some hard drive space as I can't see myself going back for the same reasons as others have already stated.Allcott
