October 13, 20187 yr Many of you will be familiar with FlyInside. They make a VR addon for FSX/P3D. Today they released the beta for their brand new flight sim: FlyInside Flight Simulator (FFS). It's made using the Vulkan API, which means it has excellent multi-core and GPU utilization (I just flew around downtown San Francisco with 60FPS on my 6 year old PC). What's also interesting about FFS is that it has a compatibility layer for FSX addons. The Milviz 737-200 and TFDI 727 are actually included as default aircraft. So, my question for Mr Randazzo is whether there has been any communication between FlyInside and PMDG, and whether this is a platform that PMDG might consider supporting (assuming the conversion is not too difficult). Thanks! Edited October 13, 20187 yr by fsxkitty Jehan Kateli
October 13, 20187 yr Direct communication with PMDG has to be via their support portal. This is a user forum with occasional moderation by PMDG support but you definitely need to use PMDG Product Support for issues such as this. Dan Downs KCRP
October 13, 20187 yr Commercial Member To be honest, we usually don't give out much information about this kind of thing, even in support. This isn't a support request as much as an info request, and as forum regulars know, we don't announce things until there are things to announce. If we haven't posted about it, then we have nothing to say on the matter up to that point. New sims, new airplanes, the weather, sport playoff progress, or otherwise... Kyle Rodgers
October 13, 20187 yr Downloaded FlyInside yesterday: Even though it seemed to be correctly installed in FSX-Steam, and even had a Windows short-cut, I kept getting a message that the path, file, etc could not be found, or I did not have permission to use it. Tried everything to start this app. No joy. Then when I tried to uninstall, Win would not allow it, even with the uninstall file on FlyInside. Finally had to delete all it's files in a search. Weird experience...

This topic is about FlyInside Flight Simulator which is a separate simulator which neither requires nor can be installed into any flavor of FSX. If you refer to the FlyInside VR addons, you should open a new topic, perhaps. But I don't think this would be PMDG-related, then. October 16, 20187 yr Playing all MS flightsims on 2D for decades until it became unplayable. More and more, more and even more added to it. It's too much for it too handle. Going to LM for their pimped-up FSX then ? academic or Pro? What am I? I'm confused. Surely this is entertainment no? Oh it's not .... apparently. Also, would need hard cash to move over and start over again building up the same. And next year? re-purchase v5 again? What do I hear? Even with hard cash on hardware and add-ons, FPS over Seattle is still an issue? Then comes this guy Dan from FLyInside along and says I can play FSX in VR. And guess what? I can indeed, and my FSX is reborn! It's a new sim. It's always been good, I just didn't see it in VR yet so i've missed a few things all those years. And all of a sudden I have a real Boeing 737 that I can fly, from PMDG. I already had it but first time I could take a real seat inside the cockpit. OK, good for now, Im not complaining. but, still, need to look at future. Future is VR, right ? X-plane then perhaps? Now there's something interesting! Yes this is good! VR there but too demanding for my specs. won't play. Need hard cash for new PC. Now Dan comes with his own sim! FlyInside Flightsimulator. Finaly a breath of fresh air? No more false prophets like Flight or FSW but a new sim built on tech from the planet Vulcan? A developer that will listen to input from community? You know what? I think i'm gonna give this a try (I already have). Much easier to pronounce and less likely to be confused with FSX when in noisy conversation....(like all those wild flightsim parties us folk tend to go to i mean 🙂) Edited October 16, 20187 yr by avhpilot Antoine v Heck --- Ryzen 5800X3D, 32Gb DDR4 RAM@1600 Mhz, RTX3090 (24GB VRAM). 2TB SSD - VR with Quest 2 via link cable
October 18, 20187 yr My red Boeing PMDG 737-600 BBJ is essentially a party bus, currently parked at Pago Pago with a rotating load of beautiful women and the island's best chef working my custom kitchen. Times have been so good down there it's been parked there now for over 20 days and on some days I never leave the plane. When I build my new rig next year, I'm hoping the Oculus Rift II will be out because I'm very excited to try out some of this new software.
