Hi.

I have the FSX Gold Edition which comes with the Acceleration Disc

I am loading up a new PC and when it comes to loading the Acceleration disc and starting FSX, it then asks for the product key and the only product key that i have is the one that i had to use on FSX flight sim which i used after the 2nd disc loaded up.

I have done the following

1, Contacted microsoft and transfered to many departments and no one can help me.

2. Followed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCURRENTCONTROLSETCONTROLCLASS{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}2) edit your UpperFilters key. For FSX and their validatin system, they expect it only reads "PartMgr , It says change from 0 to PartMgr and its already showing PartMgr

I dont want to be downloading Cracks because it could be a virus.

My options are, Wait for help or install SP1 and SP2 and not bother using the Acceleration disc

I know this has been asked, but tried many things and given up.

Thank you all

Try changing the UpperFilters key to 0 (zero). Restart windows and then change back to PartMgr.

That helped me with the same prob.

If you have FSX Gold Edition, then why don't you have the product code for the Acceleration disc?

Won't the OP still need a proper Product Key to enter after doing that procedure?  OP stated he has only the one key.

I sound like a broken record:

Forget the CD's: Install FSX-Steam and forget all your troubles - works on-line/works off-line...

I've been using it since the end of 2015 problem-free.

As far as I know there is only one key required for FSX Gold.  I did some Googling and could not find an answer to that.  If it does require an activation key and he cannot find it, then he'll have to install SP2 which is exactly the same as Acceleration but is missing some payware aircraft and scenery.  Still, it will provide him DirectX10 functionality and updates to FSX.  He will also have to install SP1 first as Acceleration contains SP1.

That's incorrect. There are some e.g. FDE related noticeable differences between SP2 and Acceleration.

That's the reason why some devs specifically mention that Acceleration and not only SP2 is required.

You're incorrect.  Acceleration was release a few months before the freeware version - SP2.  Microsoft wanted to make as much money as possible first.  SP2 is the freeware version and it does not contain any of the payware products.  You cannot install SP2 and Acceleration together as the products are coded differently so that one cannot get access to the payware products installed by Acceleration.  So, if you installed SP2 and then got someone to give you the payware products in Acceleration and then copied and pasted the product into your SP2 installation, then you would have major issues.  Here is a link to the lead developer's comments on Acceleration and SP2 - https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/ptaylor/2007/10/03/acceleration-and-sp2/

No. I'm designing FDEs for FSX and P3D since day one and I can assure you that SP2 and Acceleration are definitely different.

Here's e.g. a part from the AirWrench changelog:

1.01.78 - FSX SP2/Acceleration differences.

1.01.79 - FSX SP2/Acceleration bug fix

Hi and thank you for your replies

Jim

I have tried Run the following fix - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/928080/error-1722-when-reinstalling-flight-simulator-x, then install Acceleration

I followed everything and after i have installed the disc, it then asks for the product key and i typed the product key that came in the case (Only one Product key in the case which i used after the 2nd Disc)  and i get the message, invalid product key

Regards Stream, I have lots of Add-ons Like airports, Bangkok, Dubai, Uk Airports and UT live and aircraft, I understood that these would not work with Stream

You can still get FSX to work by installing SP1 and SP2.  At least you'll have DX10 as SP2 is the freeware version of Acceleration.

I just dug out my FSX Gold box, and there are two separate key stickers, one for FSX Deluxe, the other for the FSX Acceleration Expansion.

I guess i must have lost the Product code, I do remember a long time ago having to read the numbers out on the centre of the disc to Microsoft and they gave me a code, maybe its when i first bought the gold edition.

I think its going to be best just to download SP1 and SP2 and not bother with the 3rd disc.

Thank you all for taking the time out to help me
