p3d ssd drive full

Recommended Posts

hi I have a 500g ssd drive and have partitioned it for Windows 10  c drive and p3d drive d the c drive is almost full so was wondering if it's possible to install a new drive for p3d this will be e drive then delete the d partition which will free up space on the c drive I then would change my new drive from e to d and hopefully I would not have to reinstall Windows 10 and p3d hope this is possible.

thank you,Jim

A hardware change is likely to cause issues with licensing.

I recently upgrade from a 1tb SSD to a 1tb m.2 SSD. All I did was clone the old drive and then swap the boot priority. Don’t believe I had to re register anything but if I did I just selected yes when asked seeing it’s already embedded in registry. Also why partition a 500 mb SSD? SSD prices are cheap now it’s easier to pick up another drive than to divide a small drive.

I've done this very thing today. I went from a 500Gb to a 1Tb drive for P3d and then used the 500Gb drive to replace the 120Gb OS drive. I of course had to image the drives but it all went like clockwork, no issues at all, certainly not licensing.

It's also very easy to expand your existing P3D install onto another drive.  The xml add-on structure allows you to easily place/move add-ons anywhere you want.  So you could just add another drive, and install/move add-ons to it, leaving the P3D base installation where it is.

I did the same thing recently.  No problems at all.

And with Symbolic Links, it’s very easy and fast to move big folders (Orbx, add-on, Simobject...) to the new drive without reinstalling anything.

For example http://20-100-video.blogspot.com/2018/01/how-to-move-orbx-folder-or-any-big-p3d.html
