New Freeware 'Live Traffic' Released

Recommended Posts

I spotted this over at the org just released today...

https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/49749-livetraffic/

I own WT3 and fairly happy with it but early reports in the review section appear to indicate this might be better than WT3 as it uses real world live traffic data somehow (whilst using the same freeware Bluebell models that WT3 uses). Before removing my WT3 install, it would be great if someone here wouldn't mind giving this a try and reporting back. On the surface it looks promising.

Here is the link to the developer's site:

Already tried it earlier today and could see the traffic. Its a good plugin and has the feature for real world traffic.

Seeing it as beta till 16th feb

Thanks for the info. I tried it too and well, it does what it says it does. The only thing i am confused about is whenever the 3d models of planes are also supposed to have the right airline skin or not. Because some did, others did not.

I just skipped through the documentation. If the author can work around the ground behavior limitations in future versions, this could be a real winner.

There seems to be no ground traffic. For me the primary task of a traffic addon is the population of airports.

I get the ground traffic. i presume it uses live data, so that area has no data it might not show traffic, I tried FACT Capetown i got only one AI.

For Mumbai i see around 20 boeing or maybe airbuses.

If you are seeing on labels than check your CSL folder

I did test it at EDDF and i got no aircraft parking at gates. There were a few in the air but that´s not really usable for me.

It's not supposed to do that. ADS-B coverage on the ground is very limited. This is not an ATC program, this one displays real planes in their phases of flight.
Read the offical website, there are lots of explaination on it

Are you guys getting the right livery also? Because i seem to be getting the right aircraft type, but with a generic livery on each of them.

I could see potential for using this in conjunction with WT3.  WT3 at airports for ground traffic, take offs and landings, and live traffic for enroute AI traffic since WT3 doesn’t do that.  Perhaps a future development could include a height AGL to activate live traffic to allow for this so there’s no duplication at airports.  I’ll certainly be watching development of this addon.

An advantage of open source: other people can jump in. In this case a lin.xpl was compiled and is available now on the .org as separate download.

I tried it on Ubuntu 18.10 and it works exactly as advertised.
It is a great plugin to encounter some traffic between airports, together with X-ATC-Chatter (payware) it turns the skies into a plausible environment.
I recommend it very much.

Yes, WT3 does ground traffic, but only if the airport support it (this means if it is properly configured for traffic).
Live traffic does ground traffic, but only if is available on the servers. So both have their disadvantages in this field.

Anyone got historical traffic working?

using lubuntu 18.10 and Livetraffic is CTD'ing XP. the log.txt would show a plugin crash. Don't know what's happening
