Registered users who do not opt for the paid membership can, and I quote:"Download any demo, video, patch or file using our low-speed file servers"So paying for speed is not something I'll do. The demo should be available elsewhere.Ian.

What do you mean?

>What do you mean?I believe he's making a joke about what he feels is the generally negative, pessimistic viewpoint of most Avsim forum posters.

>so whats going on with the "beta" at fileplanet? Is it>actually the demo?NO!Let's be clear here... There are two completely different things that will be available:DEMO - Limited area as described above, FREE DOWNLOAD...BETA - FULL VERSION, time limited...

which may well be a violation of the license.Demos too are intellectual property and may be limited in their distribution rights to certain parties.

not most, just a very loud few who constantly bombard the forums with their complaints and whining. It may be even less than that if some of them are using multiple accounts to make themselves look like more than they are.

I agree. There's a minority of whiners on these forums who believe they speak for most of us. They call themselves "hardcore". Whatever.James

W3 4R3 H4RDC0R3... I'm not very good at that. There will always be the complainers. Everything will not be right with FSX. EVERY simulation that comes out will not be perfect, you can always improve on something. And people will complain about the shortcomings. The rest of us are too busy playing the #### thing! Only complaint I have against FSX is the wait! Patience, my young grasshoppa! ;)I'm still ###### that cars have wheels...

I know that people know about the release of the demo because of threads like this but I'm a bit surprised that potentially the most popular download in FS history (Ok, that's probably an exaggeration but you know what I mean!) hasn't been mentioned on any of the main FS site front pages.

>not most, just a very loud few who constantly bombard the>forums with their complaints and whining.>It may be even less than that if some of them are using>multiple accounts to make themselves look like more than they>are. In hindsight, it was a rather harsh thing to say.But as someone who is relatively new to posting in this community, I was surprised to find such bitterness. Of course, I have come to realize that it is a vocal majority, but it is still somewhat shocking. When I see the "End of an Era" video, I wonder to myself, was there the same pessimism towards FS2004 when it came out?

No there wasn't. The reason this time is that the sim's 'vast improvements' do not seem to be just for our little drum circle. Also we have more information (whether it be good or bad) about the sim before we see the NDA lifted. Oh well.
