August 6, 200619 yr man im so excited i can hardly wait and I'm just about ready to turn 41 years young. I tell my wife, im a little kid trapped in an old mans body!!so many cool things to do in the new version from what ive been reading, i think i will take the ultralight up first just to check out the new scenery, especially the higher res ground textures.but i will def. be doing some soaring and not the mission just free soaring, i hope fsx will model ridge lift?? oh also, any word if an AI plane will tow the players sail plane up? or is the only way a tow plane will work is MP??i also want to try the new MP, especially glider towing, i would love to see about 8 or 10 people online soaring, that would be awesomealso the tower controller looks interesting - will def. be checking that out as well as the co-pilot, i will def. right seat for anyone, that needs a co-pilot of course gotta do some bush flying in that new maule ... oh man, it can't get here soon enough!ciao!Brian S Ciao!
August 6, 200619 yr I will start by maxing every setting (graphics, audio, atc etc) and see what sort of FPS i get. Then i will take a flight in the C172 around Sydney (YSSY) my home "town" and see what I can recognise re coastline, roads, terrain. Then look at all the different aircraft. Then try a few of the detailed airports.Maybe try out the multiplayer.Go exploring around some of my favourite FS areas, ie Rome, Manila, Singaore, Sydney.:)
August 6, 200619 yr When I get it I'll probably be spending about 6 months tweaking all the settings, so I haven't quite looked that far ahead yet :-lol Nick Asus P5E3 Deluxe MOBO Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 CPU 3GHz L2 Cache 12MB 1333MHz LGA775 o/c'd @3.6GHz Tuniq Tower 120-Extreme CPU Cooler Zotac GeForce GTX 580 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 PC3-10600 Crucial Ballistix 1333MHz RAM 7-7-7-24 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1 x 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache OCZ 700GXS Sli 700W PSU Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 FSX (Acceleration + SP2)
August 7, 200619 yr Probably fly around Austin, TX my hometown, and then wonder why I ever whined on the forums about FSX.
August 7, 200619 yr >I will start by maxing every setting (graphics, audio, atc>etc) and see what sort of FPS i get.Ouch. Can't you wait a while?
August 7, 200619 yr I, too, will be 41 next on my next birthday. ;)My recommendation to EVERYONE is this: load the game and just click Fly Now and experience the DEFAULT flight on the DEFAULT settings. This is the experience we have chosen for you and we really hope you like it.Now, remember this experience as you start cranking up settings and adding all your favorite add-ons and realize that for at least one time the game looked pretty good and ran pretty well!! :)
August 7, 200619 yr I'll probably make a short cross-country from my airport (N99) towards the Poconos and will go "Ooooh and aaaah". Then I'll check the documentation, check out the multiplayer, maybe do some controlling and then it'll be back to Avsim to browse for the latest tweaks and to discuss FSX as nauseum... and, of course, complain loudly to get my favorite FS9 add-ons patched for FSX. ;)Pat
August 7, 200619 yr Good tip! I'll do that and then play around with settings afterwards.Any clues as to what this default flight is?
August 7, 200619 yr I probably will do nothing with it as my pc probably wont even let me install it, let alone play it with all sliders to the left lol lol lol Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
August 7, 200619 yr As I have done on every previous version that has had it, my first flight will be loading up a single engined Cessna onto my home field (YPJT) and then I'll do a circuits for a couple of days... From there i'll explore progressively greater distances with a few other aircraft and after a week or so, I'll commence my 5th "Around the World Flight, only this time it will include FS Economy assignments which will hopefully be available at the start.Cheers,Chris Porter:-outtaPerthWestern Australia Core i7 3820 | Asus P9X79-DELUX SLI M/b | 32GB Corsair DDR3 1600Mhz RAM | DeepCool Gemmaxx CoolernVidia GTX580 1536MB GDDR3 Video | ASUS MW221u 21" WS LCD2 x Kingston V300 240gb SSD RAID for OS and FSX | 2 x Seagate Barracuda 1Tb SATA HD's in RAID | 1 x 1Tb ext b/up driveAntec P193 Case | Corsair 1000W PSU | MS Win 7 Professional 64 BitMy website and aviation photo gallery - www.christopherbporter.com
August 7, 200619 yr Hi,Aha, the 'Works in Dev' defence...Besides, with the quality of the new scenery and program features that have been mentioned, we're not going to *need* any plugins or addons. Well, not for at least twenty minutes ;)Seriously though, from what I've seen it looks incredible. Are the demo screenshots/movies all done at default settings?Cheers,Jim
August 7, 200619 yr Wise words taildragger. My first flight will be the default, wherever it is. For my second I will have to start from KSEA because it's one FS area I know like the back of my hand and it'll be interesting comparing the new version.I'm not so bothered about re-installing old payware stuff - I'm looking forward to new things, especially the PMDG Airbus..Ian
August 7, 200619 yr Is -that- what his username means? I've always been curious. If that's the case I'm never letting him fly my 747!
