Aerobask doing Falcon 8X

Featured Replies

There's an announcement at The Org and on Facebook.  Apparently they are partners with Dassault throughout the development.  They aim to be done by 2020.  This is awesome news.

Dassault Aviation and Aerobask are proud to announce they have entered into a partnership agreement for the development of Dassault Aviations Falcon 8X for the X‑Plane 11 platform from Laminar Research. The Falcon 8X is Dassault Aviations flagship and best in class, ultra-long range tri-jet, and the longest bizjet ever built by Dassault Aviation.

Our model is developed in collaboration and under the supervision of Dassault Aviation, with step-by-step validation according to their specifications. With a strong experience in development of glass-cockpit airplanes and thanks to privileged access to the real aircraft, we aim at delivering the most realistic experience flying the Falcon 8X.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

We are now almost at 5 years since this announcement. Wondering if XP12 will ever see the Falcon 8X?

Not sure...I believe there was a post from them (a few months ago) that had a little uncertainty to the potential release.  Hope it comes out though - it's a beautiful jet,

Non-stop NYC to Beijing.  Woh.  I do miss flying some of those Aerobask planes.  Maybe, someday, I'll reinstall X-Plane.

You are correct and from the sounds of the lead developer, this does not look very optimistic. Decreased revenue from aircraft sales has put 8X development on hold. Looks like Aerobask is even going to try the early access route to generate funds if Dassualt Aviation agrees. Really feel bad for the development team after 5 years of work. If revenue will not offset licensing fees, this project is no go. The reality of declining sales to fund ongoing projects!

Getting approval from a manufacturer can be the kiss of death for a developer.  5 years is quite a long time between projects.  I remember the PMDG 747-400 took 4 years, and they weren't happy it even took that long.

I certainly hope Lionel can get it done, because it looks like it'll be a cracker of an add on.

My understanding is that Dassault wants to have the 8X simulated as exactly as possible as part of the licensing agreement, which is why it's taking Aerobask so long.

This sounds like a worthwhile purchase when it becomes available.

Looking forward to more news when the developer has more to release.
