Two Dual AMD Processors helping MS FSX

If you read closely, we are not talking about how FSX will perform on a single duel core processor. We are talking about a machine that is specifically designed to help improve the performance of certain "games" that uses two duel core CPUs. My question is, will such a machine benefit FSX?RH

> My question is, will such a machine benefit FSX?Of course yes, if its multicore it will benefit FSX like what was said. The 'ultimate' setup is multicore cpu, DX10 (maybe in sli) running on 64 bit OS and exe. The only missing bit being the 64 bit exe, since MS said that isnt going to happen.

Intel will provide four cores with the Woodcrest(based on the same architecture as Core 2 Duo/Conroe) although I don't think it is targeted at gamers.

Ok, I don't normally spellflame but I've read this so often now my fingers are typing this on their own accord to prevent themselves from clawing my eyes out:DUAL coreDUAL coreDUAL corePlease. The cores are cooperating with each other, not fighting. No duels there, nosiree. Duels between AMD and Intel, maybe, duels between AMD and Intel a really excited user, certainly. But NO duels within the CPU, definitely not. None. Nope. Not a bit. Wouldn't make any sense whatsoever anyway.Regards,http://www.bremmekamp.com/img/misc/avsim.jpg

>Personally I hope that it WONT be possible to even achive 5fps>on 'normal' systems as that means FSX is greatly detailed and>in 2 years we'll have the hardware for it. That must have been a different article -- concerning a motherboard that accepts both an AM2 and an Intel Conroe -- The Duel Core, or would it be a Dual-Duel core?RH

Just to elaborate, I get 3fps, with max. clouds, unlimited visibility, everything max'ed out.YES, it does get 'tedious' and frustrating trying to have a smooth landing.I dislike slideshow presentations from our manager and often sit with my laptop during meetings etc, checking out AVSIM forums and waiting for my lunch break or better yet, when its the end of the day.FS9 is BETTER than these slideshow presentations, so there is nothing to compare, even with 3fps.No, I don't have any add-ons, its all from "out the box".YES, I too can get 25-30fps, if I fly the Lear on 5% fuel, throttles max'ed and point it 90degrees up into a blue sky with no clouds.I hope FSX will be exactly the same way with NEW hardware, as then we'll know just how much more detail has been added, and in a few years when we upgrade, we can all get 30fps.Don't think short term, think long term, of what you'll be spending your time doing in years to come.Lets say you get FSX to run 30fps with todays hardware, then there won't be as much detail added as with a version of FSX that runs 5fps with todays hardware.Add-ons don't count, because the majority of these ..uh.. 'programmers' don't optimize their code or graphics, which is why you will see a silly version of a Cessna with a 500MB BMP plastered all over it.Thats why anything "Microsoft" is automatically better, because they know the logic behind optimization.I'd really wish for a "Approved by Microsoft" stamp on any add-on software, that way I know the quality will be "up there where its supposed to be"

Andre, you've certainly convinced me to switch to Intel.I mean, darn, 25-30fps in the lear going straight up with no clouds, AWESOME!!!!I only get a measly 25fps with my piddly AMD 3200+ (32bit) with all sliders maxed coming into KSEA in bad weather.Yessireee, Intel here I come ;-) NOT!!

I know you'll just have to take my word for it, but...not all Intel systems have that problem :-) .Doug

Intel P4 3.4ghz HT2gig DDR RAMnVidia 6800GT 256megAudigy 2 ZS Platinum ProI have everything maxed... absolutely nothing turned off, turned down or disabled. I run 1600x1200x32. I have FlyTampa's KSFO with Megascenery's Megacity San Francisco and Northern California sceneries.I average 25fps at KSFO.If you are running a comparable system and are not getting comparable frame rates... it's not the hardware... it's the software. As in you have something beating your system down, and it ain't FS.
