It took a while for the hardware to catch up. Same with 64...I for one don't mind not seeing a 64-bit this time around. Let things settle out a bit and then proceed with the 64-bit FS. I know the potential with 64-bit space is staggering in potential for FS.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

Scott. Is this groundhog day? Deja Vu? I saw this EXACT post maybe a week ago. May 31, 200620 yr I, for one, still appreciate your humor, tdragger, and I "demand" to hear more of it! ;-)I am going to buy 4 copies of FSX, so I will be the first with a 128 bit version! :-lolRegards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...R_FORUM_LOU.jpg

One I'll use and the other I'll smash up and that will give me a multi bit version! :-lol
May 31, 200620 yr >Come on, this is not fair. We demand 64 bit FSX...... Who is We?I don't demand anything...and this topic has already been answered more than once by Mike. Let it go already. Ken

June 1, 200620 yr So nobody wants a 64 bit flight sim that can take advantage of the latest hardware. Must have been a stupid idea, what was I thinking *:-*
June 1, 200620 yr >So nobody wants a 64 bit flight sim that can take advantage>of the latest hardware. Must have been a stupid idea, what was>I thinking *:-* I hear ya. Personally I want 64 bit everything, just waiting for Vista and the software titles! Wonder how many still have 128 mb cards, less than 2 gig CPUs, or even less than a gig of DDR, this is less than standard in gaming circles these days.Knowing what pure 64 bit will bring, I can't to see what FS11 will be like.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/tfbeta.jpg Best, Michael KDFW
June 1, 200620 yr "Wonder how many still have 128 mb cards, less than 2 gig CPUs, or even less than a gig of DDR, this is less than standard in gaming circles these days."Weakly raises hand. Here?Everytime I take my daughter to Disneyland and see her eyes light up, and everytime I take a lesson in the "real thing", I know there's more important things than meeting today's gaming standards :) I'll settle with being the slowest on the block in gaming circles. I see a system upgrade as skipping a vacation with family, or skipping a few lessons. By no means am I offended by your question. I just wanted to let folks know there's still some of us out here with a different set of priorities who still get excited by the sim even if our performance is far from everyone else's.-John
June 1, 200620 yr LOL, I totally understand John, not having kids, I have different priorities and know there are still many in your boat. My post was more to counter those that think that 64 bit systems are just techy rigs for the elite few, which they are not.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/tfbeta.jpg Best, Michael KDFW
June 1, 200620 yr "My post was more to counter those that think that 64 bit systems are just techy rigs for the elite few, which they are not."I most certainly agree. You can toss together a 64 bit system for $1000 or thereabouts, less if you cannibalize your current system for parts. I wouldn't think of getting anything other than a 64 bit system at this stage, minimum.-John
June 1, 200620 yr I too also understand your position. Obviously family comes first before self - that's how it is in my family as well.In my line of work, I'm a technologist who takes advantage of the latest top-of-the-line computer hardware but mostly because my job requires it. I'm a software engineer for 3D Softworks and one of my duties involve beta testing software on a wide range of machines from the old P4 1.6Ghz all the way up to the PentiumD 3.8Ghz which is a 64-bit processor. This also involves testing on a wide swath of OS's ranging from Windows 98 all the way to the latest released OS (Windows XP x64 Edition). (By the way, Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 98 on July 11th which is also when we'll end our testing of software on it). Currently, 3D Softworks pays for a major portion of the computer hardware and software that is used which has helped tremendously in solving hard-to-find system-specific issues with our software. This in turn helps our customer support calls be more efficient which could not have been achievable otherwise.I would have to say that If I wern't in the particular line of work that I'm in, I too would probably still be using an older system such as a P4 1.6 or similar.
