>meanwhile i am still getting 8fps on my 3.6ghz system. lovely! If you really are getting such poor performance on such a machine, look to your system for a configuration problem.I have HALF that machine and get 25-30 fps consistently, with a ton of add on scenery, mesh, and AI traffic.

Sarcasm is great. I use it a lot, particularly when I'm suffering fools lightly ;) Nice post Mike.

Hi Mike,I want to apologise. Over the last few years, I was always a strong supporter that you guys would show up in the forums and participate in discussions and was prepared to make a stand for this. The bashing that happened here over the last weeks really makes me reconsider my opinion on this. You don't deserve this! Reading all these rantings amids your work load and sleep deprevation can't really be called great support from the community. I'm wondering if you should take a break from participating in community forums for a while until the dust has settled. If I were you I'd concentrate on the positive:a) all the recent bashings have no grounds (as you point out in your post) - screenshots or videos don't show off flight dynamics or weather systems, let alone ATC features. How people can infer judgements on these features from what has been published so far is beyond me.:( This is not the first entertainment title this has happened to. In fact, it seems to become the norm with every highly anticipated release. Take it as a compliment. Peolple are obviously very passionate about the FS frachise and I'm sure all the ranters will happily spend their money on FSX as everyone else. Typically, the louder the rants the higher the revenue. Something to look forward to...c) I suspect the ranters are in the very minority. I don't see the point getting caught up in all this ranting hence I stay quiet - and I suspect many more supporters do. Personally, I'm feeling too mature to participate in this childish behaviour. To all ranters: just go deep into yourself and ask yourself what you are trying to achieve. Do you really think a post like "RANT TO $#!# M$ $%#@!#' is going to achieve anything positive?!? The FS team will suddenly jump and say 'hey, our vision of FSX is completely wrong, let's start from scratch, we still have half a year to release, that's plenty of time (given we just wasted 3 years!)'? I'm not asking for a forum full of sicophants/Microsoft lovers, but if you want to critise please do so in a reasonable and constructive matter! I'm sure the FS team will be much more open to well written and well intended suggestions then to senseless bashing. And the occasional pat on their shoulder probably wouldn't hurt either. I for one are very much looking forward to the new FSX. From the feature announcements and what I've seen so far in screenshots and movies I'm very excited to get my hands on the new version and I want to congratulate the team for doing a great job.And for crying out loud - Mike, go to bed and get some sleep!!!Cheers,Christian

Wow, I've been away from the forums for a few days and I'm glad I was...Mike, your post was well said and I think the irony and sense of humor in your post was timely... :)I could see the whining building which I tried to encourage the community away from, but looks like some in the community persisted...As an avid FS user, I thank you for everything in FS, your valuable contribution and that of the whole ACES team... I personally found out at work this last week that sometimes people are just really immature and just let them be dumb... It's not worth worrying about...You know when you look back to FS 2.0 or before FSX is way more than any of us back then could have ever imagined... And for everyone who has complained about your wanted feature not being in FSX, there's always FS11 or FS12, the ACES team listens and will read your request, make sure though you are polite and treat the guys there as you would want to be treated yourself. Or you could become an FS Addon Developer yourself if you have that much vision...There are countless features in FSX that I submitted requests for that are now in FSX... All my dreams have come true for FSX, and I can't ask for anything more from the dev team...Mike, we support you guys and the whole team there... Don't let the knucklheads get you down...SincerelyDean

I think what Mike and the others have said should alleviate some of our fears, which was that FS was leaning towards arcadeness. That fear I can fully understand, and here's why, I look in the shops and on the shelves PC's are getting further and further pushed into one little corner of the store. The what's worse I go into PCWorld here in UK, and what do I see? Consoles. For crying out loud it's called PCWORLD, what part of PC don't they understand, can't we have one last bastion of PCness left alone? Please? So when we see MS using an XBox controller and jets flying through hoops with a chase view aka many console driving flying games what are we supposed to think? Okay I'll concede we could be wrong, and don't for one second imagine that most of us don't appreciate what we have already and the hard work that goes into a decent flight simulator, be it FS 2002, FS9 or FSX. It's just fear causing the rants, maybe irrational maybe not. I've seen it before, when Vivendi got rid of Papyrus and the Nascar Racing series because EA got all rights to the Nascar games, because they wanted to do it on Consoles mainly. Thanks for listening, and apologies if I ever said anything that upset the MS devs. I don't think I ever attacked anyone personally but yeah, I guess your right, it must upset 'em when all we do by way of thanks is rant about what we see and don't like, instead of complimenting what we do.

:-lol :-lol :-lol :-lol :-lol :-lol :-lolJust Funny !!Thanks

That was a hoot, as well as educational ;-) I'd also like to express my appreciation to you guys for taking the time to be here and your patience with some of the questions-rants. There is a pretty broad age spectrum here.I'm looking forward to FSX even more than I was FS9.Cheers,Todd

I'll go with that, my age alone ranges from 12 to 82 LOL

Actually my WoooooooooooF came after an all nighter rebuilding a couple of firewalls and reading your post. I'm sure you got a chuckle, but wow how some folks get offended???Thank goodness we don't worship the hammer & sickle!:-wave
