April 18, 20197 yr I'm excited about this one. However, I'll wait until the inevitable release of the first service pack to fix errors that Carenado always overlooks in their rush to release a plane. April 19, 20197 yr Hi. Happy Easter everyone. Please, can someone advise me why even Carenado refer to an ATR 42-500 as an AR 42-500 ? At first I was confused as I'm very familiar with the real aircraft and shape but I've worked in aviation, hands on with aircraft now for 55 years, owned a Sea Vampire ex RAN FAA so I'm knowledgeable to an extent and I was not aware of an AR anything. Looking forward to mystery being resolved for me. Google and Wiki let me down too re an aircraft type referred to as an AR ....
April 19, 20197 yr I have heard negative feedback about Carenado products which has put me off even thinking about purchasing, but this one catches my eye. I have heard that the FMS on some Carenado products is not a very complete product (this one boasts a UNS-1 FMS - is this the same that is used in other Carenado products?). Also, does anyone know if it has weather radar?
April 19, 20197 yr Do they ever fix the ones they have already released and support them my first and only purchase not good and will be my last. Raymond Fry.

They do not make a simulator quality one. Every plane I've bought from them has something(s) integral omitted, as if it's done on purpose. They've been enabled so long by people who do product reviews, that obviously, they don't care (if they ever did), and they'll crank out the new toy with all it's short-comings, then move on to the next one. As for fixing or updating the short-comings, in their own words: "It's not a priority." The negative feedback of Carenado can be summed up: They could be great, but choose to be mediocre.
April 19, 20197 yr Hello, you missed adding the negative feedback here and here Edited April 19, 20197 yr by Reader

Yes, I guess it would be a bit too much to ask for if they had finally pulled the rabbit out of the hat with a more outstanding contribution. They may not be dedicated to the longer development cycle that we have come to expect from e.g. PMDG, but with that said I can think of at least one product which seems to have dragged on for a long while with no significant change in its status Edited April 19, 20197 yr by LecLightning56

I suppose you may have a valid point but Carenado named the forum A42 500 Series, not AR or ATR anything. I say you may have a valid point in that it is hard for me to go through their product site and find where they refer to it as AR or ATR. It may be there. It is just that I didn't do an in-depth search of the product site. Now, I see some of our members refer to it as an AR or ATR but not Carenado. Now, in the video which I updated below, the aircraft fuselage will show ATR 42-500. If you Google A42 500 Series, you'll see a lot of results from Carenado. Maybe you should instead ask our members why they called it an AR 42-500. Shame on them! 😎 Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! They use to abbreviate the names on their products titles, but as Jim Young says, this aircraft remains an ATR, as shown in the video. Nothing to be concerned about. April 20, 20197 yr ;) Hello, gents. Thanks for engaging with me concerning the ATR vs AR matter which I raised only as Carenado posting the product to the world as an AR is to myself and my work colleagues akin to calling a Bae 146 a B146 or a BMW a BW. It's title is suddenly unrecognisable to those who would know. It's an intellectual model produced for entertainment. I do get that. However we should be careful with "She'll be right". Carenado is in my humble opinion the best of the best for providing a reasonable simulation product with mostly outstanding appearance compared to most competitors at a reasonable cost and which is aimed at making it user friendly for the general population. Most of my 'hangar' is comprised of Carenado stock. I have lived my entire working life working on, in and around aircraft be they military or civilian, piston powered, turbo prop or jet, flying school bug smashers, commercial airliners, corporate jets and warbirds. To my prehistoric formed thought processes the act of referring to an aircraft name albeit an acronym and dropping part of it perhaps in distortion, colloquial slang or 'didn't know better' apparently annoys my 'old timer' professionalism. Such is the fate of purists. lols ... Please be assured I'm not being pedantic. I just hope such small errors now common place don't produce cemented ignorance in upcoming generations by corruption of standards, significant or trivial. Kindest regards to all.
April 20, 20197 yr Baught this one yesterday on their homepage and the installer did not work. Every time it said "serial not valid" Wrote to service desk. No answer till now. So .... spend money for nothing. Greetings Klaus
