April 24, 20197 yr Now it's been out a short while, what is the overall prognosis? I saw comments about 4.5 delivering lower FPS. Also I need to ensure it's running well with PTA, RexSkyForce3D, EnvDir, RTSS. Now with Rex Environment Force about to launch, there are reasons to want to upgrade. So, anyone care to tell me why I should stick with 4.4 for the time being?
April 24, 20197 yr The FPS lowering was bad enough on mine that i went back to 4.5 until the patch comes out to fix it. :'( My PC: I7-7700K 4.9 Ghz (OC), ASUS MAXIMUS IX HERO, 32GB DDR4-3200 RAM, EVGA GTX 1080Ti, EVGA 850 G3 Gold power supply, C:=1TB WD Black D:=1TB M.2 Samsung 960 Pro, Windows 10 Pro, Prepar3D v4, AFS2, Tons of Orbx 🙂 https://www.flickr.com/photos/buffy-foster/ || https://buffyfostersblog.wordpress.com/
April 24, 20197 yr Author I wonder if the FPS lowering is because of new abilities which can be deconfigured in settings, or whether it's actually slightly broken?
April 24, 20197 yr Stick with 4.4 until the upcoming hotfix is out, or you'll end up upgrading again. [MSI MPG X870E Carbon | 9800X3D (PBO +200Mhz / -20 Offset) | Corsair 64GB DDR5 (Custom Timings) | RTX 4090 Founders Edition (Undervolted) | WD SNX 850X 4TB + 4TB | Antec Flux Pro]

No decrease in FPS, if anything a slight uptick in frames, and the main program and scenery load times have been shortened somewhat as well. The frames drop seems to be very hit or miss, so it's very hard to predict who might experience it. Scott
April 24, 20197 yr I upgraded to 4.5 client, content, scenery, the day it came out. Personally, big bubbles, no troubles. I'm not an FPS counter but I haven't had any problems. Reasonably smooth depending of course on where and what I'm flying. Vic green
April 24, 20197 yr I haven’t noticed any fps loss in 4.5. Runs well and smooth as butter for me. Orman
April 24, 20197 yr You could try V4.5 and check your minimum franerate in very detailed scenery. If that is 35 or higher it does not matter if you use Vsync with 25/30 hertz.z Perhaos with V4.4 you had 41 ... I am on 4.5 and although I need to tweak the clouds extra ( Fs2002 look sometimes ) I really like the more realistic look and improved nightlighting... 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
April 24, 20197 yr Author Ok Thanks all. I think I'll be giving it a go soon. As new P3D user, this is my first update I'll be appying. Can you tell me what happens to my scenery addons config and .cfg tweaks during the update? Do they all get vaped and need re-entering?
