I say that I am a US customer and the cart says 20% VAT. So it is a 30% discount?

Are you serious?

when you pay your individual tax on a 50% reduced price the result is 50% also.

full price: 16€ + 20% VAT = 19,20€

now reduced: 8€ + 20% VAT = 9,600€

Mathematics...

I can do the math. I don't understand the VAT. Never happened before.

US customers do not pay European VAT taxes but they do pay about one buck per transaction to credit card companies for currency conversion fee from US dollars to Euro currency.

Thank you. But why does the cart page show the VAT after it knows I am in the US?

Does it show with amount or does it show ZERO for VAT?  Mine never had VAT and if there is any VAT, it is always zero.

Do you use USA addresses for credit card info?

My Pay Pal page shows €9.99 (not €7.99) and I think if I go further  the transaction will go through. 2 € will not ruin me but the idea rankles.

Ahhhh Palpay   I avoid Palpay like plague.

That does NOT surprise me that Palpay scams people with phony taxes and phony VAT.

You should have shopped DIRECTLY with any retail website instead of using Palpay to avoid VAT gimmick.  Retail websites know which location of each customer requires VAT or not.   I have been shopping on flight simming retail websites for years and have never been charged with VAT.

Also there is notice on all flight simming retail websites that they would charge VAT when applicable depending on a shopper's residential location. If yours is USA, they should NOT have charged you with European taxes.

Thank you, Aharon for your attention to this. We may be looking at different sites. https://lhsimulations.com/webshop/ has no option except Pay Pal as far as I can tell. It looks to me that ihsimulations passes me off to Pay Pal with the VAT included. Pay Pal has nothing to do with the VAT.

What's more if you go to the VAT policy link on ihsimulations page it does not say anything.

It is looking to me more likely that there is no mistake in inclusion of the 27% VAT.
