France second largest airline AIGLE AZUR goes bust.

Poor buggers. 

There is going to be a lot of surplus Airbus A320 and a few A330's out there now up for grabs, that will effect new aircraft orders and perhaps cancel some current orders

We could see it here in the states also.

Granted this airline folded, the market for new aircraft is still pretty good. Nice stuff coming online next year.

Here again, I feel very bad for the employees of the airline. As the second largest in France, I'm sure many families depended on them for their living. I hope they receive a safety net and are able to find employment elsewhere quickly.

 

For sure 188. It trickles down to ground services, and the airport itself with fees.

The markets haven't had a chance to adjust yet, those surplus aircraft are still in holding and will be for a little while, the ripple effect is still months away. For an airline to cancel an order has a cost associated to it however picking up surplus also saves money and means immediate delivery rather than waiting for new aircraft. Also when an airline that has orders goes under also effects orders and deliveries.

For MAX customers with orders a long way out they may find it cheaper to cancel a MAX order and pay the penalty, then pickup surplus A320's to have them in the air right away, that can be more cost effective compared to waiting.
