Good argument, Mike.  I for one will proceed with Caution as the testing goes.  Being a nape of the earth flier in Helicopters there is a pebble in my shoe already about the lack of rotary wing presence in the offering during the test cycles. If they include a FSX type backward compat. IE .air file support I might be albe to work with something to get by with for testing purposes. We'll see,  

I think the problem with MSFS2020 will be the huge data traffic, the whole world is 20000 Blurays.

If millions play MSFS2020 you can imagine the extra load of data traffic for the internet.

If you look at that under environmental aspect, it's insanity.

With P3D V4.5 you can fly offline, if you want. 

yeah but you don't have to load those 20,000 bluerays to fly.  You just load the area you are in

I assume strongly, that similar to FSX their implemented flight physics are nowhere near as good for helicopters; maby at some point in the future.

Rotary wings need quite a lot more of calculations compared to fixed wings aircraft for working properly in a simulator.  You can do so with a fixed wing approach, but the result will be helicopters which behave like an aircraft in many facets (e.g FSX, P3D default helicopters).

X-Pane (particular since its last physics-update 11.40 R1/R2), DCS helicopters, even Aerofly FS 2 with its R22, they all are far far better regarding the depection of rotary wings, and the developers from Asobo/MS2020 know that.  They don't want to compete against those big rivals in the rotary area, at least not at the early stages after the release. 

Just my two cents.

I must admit that the thought of having to be connected to the internet (and with a fast, reliable, consistent connection) does concern me a bit with the new MFS. I know that there will supposedly be an offline mode, but the thought of accepting landclass graphics again (however much they will have improved with respect to FSX and P3D) does not exactly infuse my soul with enthusiasm. I have a decent and reliable connection at home, but I still see wildly variable performance when downloading files from various locations. That is presumably due to bandwidth associated with various sites.....and that's the part that bothers me. Is there going to be enough bandwidth at all times to maintain stability and smooithness at my required detail levels? Patchy streaming performance would be just as annoying as bad stutters in the P3D world.

There's also a third option - 'Pre-cached'.

Download the areas of interest, e.g. the UK (or parts of it) for you, and have the same photoscenery you normally get when streaming, but sat on your SSD or equivalent.

It's going to take some time for my favourite add-ons (or equivalents) to appear in MSFS, so I'm going to keep using P3D for airliner flights. MSFS will be used for GA to begin with.
