P3D has left the building ....

Just kidding...😀

LM is continuing with the development of P3D and it may well be that V5 looks as good as MSFS will.
About V5 I know nothing yet but that they are investing in the sim I do know as they are asking for a multi media design professional in the UK.

http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6305&t=135063

So if the “PMDG is going to MSFS”  dust is gone we can go back to our daily Flightsimming ...

Let's be real here. We all love and support P3D but there is a 0% chance of that happening.

It's amazing how many "P3d is dead" threads/posts are appearing in this forum and people keep saying it over and over. Ok, if you think it's dead, so be it (for you), but i'm sure that there's quite a considerable amount of simmers that don't need the most updated ducks/eagles to fly them all over the world. I for one, am quite satisfied with the sceneries that i have and all my ducks (i'm not flying eagles, never flown anything beyond F50) are healthy and prepared to fly whenever i want to and to whatever place/airport i want. I've got all of the Europe covered with excelent sceneries (yeah, quite some money in them), Australia an NZ, Russia, N and S America and Orbx is working on Asia and Africa, so what else do i need? I have a good internet connection (which will be vital for FS12) and an old computer that handles P3D quite well, so yeah, one might say i'm a conservative, but you know, you don't change the winning horse. And if masses will follow M$ to the FS12 trail, i'm sure there'll be lots of goodies for P3d on sale, so take a deep breathe and .......

Well said.

Because LM doesn’t throw around with pre-view shots and vids doesn’t mean they are doing nothing.

Others Flightsims also evolve : e.g. DCS will switch to a new and improved clouds system within 2 weeks . X-plane also will evolve. And P3D will evolve too.

Already I can hear people complain that the PR underground is getting blurry for instance.  Not everybody has a 250+ mb/s IN connection..

PR scenery is the most realistic but in high resolution ...

P3D isn't going anywhere. But the addons will. I think that P3D will take the route that FS9 did when FSX came out. It will continue to exist and work well, but over time there will not be any new commercial content for it. Depending on the effort to make products work in MSFS, that may happen sooner than we expect. Everybody will be keen on tapping into a market with the potential to reach millions of customers.

Seeing my own sales in the shops and that announcement from PMDG, it looks to me like the addon market is currently slowing down considerably, almost coming to a halt. And I doubt that many new P3D licenses are purchased either, not in the end user market anyway. Smart move by PMDG to offer a stepping stone product now to keep customers in the loop and finance development for the new platform. Not sure if they could afford to just wait it out.

Best regards

P3Dv4 might be like Fs9 in the future, but if a P3Dv5 will be released that will be a major upgrade ...

Why ? The people of LM aren’t setting still and throwing paper planes at eachother...

As MSFS has FSX as a base LM can use their V4 as a base too. And V4 is a lot better and improved than FSX.

It's not that P3D is dead, it's that some of us are just ready for the new simulator. Hopefully, MSFS2020 won't be another nightmare.

MSFS

I wonder if there is some sort of forum tool that can measure the percentage content of specified words in threads?  We could start with "guess", "imagine", "opinion", "theory", "assume" etc.

Don't mind about the PMDG announcement about developing aircraft for X-Plane. Even if I don't use it, XP is still a wonderful platform with too much to show in the future. I remember JV from ORBX saying the same about XP some time ago, and now ORBX dedicates a lot of resources to develop scenery for XP.

Just simply pick your plane and airport, set your weather, and voila.... go flying and don't bother anymore!

Exactly, the same emotions floated around here in the past with the move from FS9 to FSX etc... Hence some are still on FS9...

It offers only more choices for us flightsimmers and as for MSFS2020 it's a huge step in the right direction to portray the world and the skies...

Instead of all those assumptions (it will be blurry, or FPS or whatever you can think of) I just wait and see with an open mind and lucky for us simmers we have so many choices.

(MSFS2020 / P3Dv.4X / Xplane 11+ / FSX / FS9 / DCS / Aerofly to name a few...)

A few years ago it was a whole different story 😉

As for PMDG happy with the NGXu 😎

Waiting for coming Black Friday sales to get more P3D add-ons!!

Not giving up on P3D in the near future.

FSX simmers got hammered for saying the same thing. End of the day why throw away $$$ ? 2020  is around the corner

From my point of view that doesn't make any difference. An addon company with failing sales has to make a decision now, not at some arbitrary point in the future that may or may not come to pass.

In any case, even if there is a V5, we are looking at two new platforms then: MSFS with millions of potential users, marketed directly and in force at the end users by Microsoft itself, and P3D V5 with a fraction of that user base, hidden away behind license restrictions and general, intentional lack of publicity. Which one of the two would you choose if your income depended on it?

Best regards
