October 10, 200619 yr Under aircraft, does your demo have the DHC-2 Beaver or the Robinson helicopter? The helicopter = demo #2.
October 10, 200619 yr Has anyone tried this new tip in populated cities or detailed airports? Cause im still getting poor framerates
October 10, 200619 yr i fly mostly around Long Island, New York and Manhatten area and i havent noticed much difference if any on my system either.I think everyone who's trying to "tweak" should do it flying around this area in different conditions...this is one of the hard hit areas and always has been...it should be used for benchmarking IMO.Dave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
October 10, 200619 yr >Has anyone tried this new tip in populated cities or detailed>airports? Cause im still getting poor frameratesWell I have been experimenting, and I can tell you, that the detailed airports in FSX do drag down perf a lot. I think that means the texture sizes are quite large for the 3D buildings. So that means something can be done in this regard, possibly, too. I am not yet sure if that is the global scenery detail slider, or if that means the textures themselves will need some tweaking. But outside of those areas with lots of 3D objects, Matt Fox's autogen tweak has really improved things a lot. Try going from 15 fps with dense autogen to 25 fps. It's much much better.RhettAMD 3700+, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, etc. etc. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
October 10, 200619 yr Well, I am the second one that can report no noticeable improvement in FPS. Go figure.Pretty difficult to save the file to the wrong location. . .hmmm. . .

October 11, 200619 yr As far as the urban areas go, I'm looking at reducing the size of some of the autogen buidling textures. There are a ton of textures for buildings - I'm just trying to figure out which ones would be the best to start with. I think I might get to this later tonight. May post something then or tomorrow. If that yields results, I'll look at some of the airport textures to see if reducing them helps framerates when flying near airports. One candidate I am highly suspicious of is autogen vehicles and AI aircraft. When I pan to look at a parked plane or ground equipment at an airport, my framerate really tanks. You could also see my other two threads with reduced cloud textures and reduced tree textures. See:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=355651&page=6andhttp://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=355657&page=6I have found these help framerates and can run in conjunction with Matt's fix.Mike Kelly
October 11, 200619 yr What happened to the second version of the fix? When I click on the link, it tells me it no longer exists.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
October 11, 200619 yr >Can some of you please try the file attached to this post and>let me know how it compares to the original one I posted last>night. This should give ALOT more variety than the one I>posted last night, but is still be much much less than the FSX>default.>>>Thanks.>>Matt Fox Is it normal this second attachment is not downloading? The site claims it is missing. Does somebody have it and can upload it say through rapidshare.de? Thank you, I'm dying to get my fps up a little... (and praying the dev team gets some dual core patch because having a cpu sitting idle isn't fun!) EDIT: APOLOGIES! Camino on macosx seems to have the webpage show that message but the download actually went through and I didn't notice. I got the file, I'm going to try it, thank you!

October 11, 200619 yr It would be greatly apreciated if u can do something about those building textures specially of the detailed aiports. Thanks for the wonderfull work.
October 12, 200619 yr Hi,It's still there; I can download it fine. Maybe you have to be logged in to the forum, or perhaps the AVSIM File Library???Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
