December 17, 20196 yr For us simmers? No. We are not their major target, at most. We are not worth the mammoth investment. They are using this to push the new Xbox sales and to lure the game pass subscribers. It's huge. The new MSFS will become the most attractive bait for general players who will curiously (and proudly) make the bite (but not really playing it). To create this big bait Microsoft has to make it as shining, "serious", and "professional" as possible. Thus benefit the simmers. See, everybody is happy.

I disagree if the new XBOX success was dependent on MSFS it would Fail, it will be titles like Halo C.O.D and other top games that will make it a success the new Halo alone will probably outsell all the sims in use at the moment. They already have 15 million subscribers according to resent XBOX video and according to MS you will not need a subscription to use MSFS or buy it. EG the offline mode. Raymond Fry.

That will depend entirely on whether you "need" access to the 2PB of scenery data, or if you are content with the low res stuff that fits on a blueray disk. Of course you will not "need" a gamepass subscription. when you buy it, most likely bundled with a "6 months free" gamepass subscription. Standard bait and switch entirely obvious from day 1. Microsoft wants your netflix money. They'll likely get it too. AutoATC Developer

December 17, 20196 yr Whoever thought that MS is releasing the flightsim out of pure love and altruism is a, for the lack of better word, a moron. They will make their money worth, that or the other way. I have a game pass for xbox and i really don't care about FS (might) being subscription based. Either way, have a great tuesday peeps, take it easy and enjoy whatever sim u r using until msfs comes out. December 17, 20196 yr I think many people have had the same view as this, and I don’t think it’s completely wise of the mark. I’m not sure why they’d pick a niche genre almost entirely inhibited by middle aged men though to help sell a product or subscription though? I definitely think the platform itself is where the money is, and what other sort of games may sprout from the simulated world.
December 17, 20196 yr Nothing new here, we knew it from E3 already. On top of what you said, it's also a decent platform to show some of the services Bing Maps and Azure can do. So it's publicity all around. Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

Age of Empires 3 was released before FSX was released. Number 4 is also getting released next year, with the gap between versions just as big as Flight Simulator I don't get all these wacky theories why they are making a flight simulator again. They have Phil Spencer at the helm again and are focusing again on the lucrative gaming market. Think about it, they payed 2.5 billion dollars for Minecraft. This is a good thing
December 17, 20196 yr Im sure there is plenty of incentives for MS to highlight the new sim, and while the vast majority will be for financial gain and expanding the xbox market, it seems very clear to me that full on resources are being spent on the new flight sim, and the team at Asobo are very passionate and motivated. Heck many of them are real world pilots now using that experience in coding every look and feel. So in the end, what does it matter? We are getting a next gen sim, with visuals and fidelity we've never experienced before. What MS does after is not our concern. It will just grow as FSX did now that we know 3rd party support is there. I really cant see them abandoning this title when you put such a huge amount of resources into it. They have the sharp attention of all us hobby serious simmers, but have also piqued the curiosity of many general gamers out there. And I would think this world they are creating can be licensed further to other gaming genres to use. Cheers CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
