February 19, 20206 yr Does VOX really work in a networked config? Any additional nogos when installed on a network PC? The rest of the ATC mentioned here they do work very well on client PCs. Thanks

They are assigned at the appropriate point after filling the plan -- STAR not till a bit before TOD in case winds have changed.. Having a fixed cockpit (737-800 using ProSim) the aircraft characteristics are only set the once, when first installing P2A (apart from maybe minor adjustments later). I used to use Radar Contact, but of course that knows nothing about SIDs and STARS, which for me was its worst defect. Version 5 was supposed to deal with that but didn't get too far. And anyway, now I like the voice interaction -- on headset or overhead speakers, not mixed in with sim sounds -- with no menus and no screen display needed (though I do have the ConversionText file scrolling on a small screen in my cockpit, in case I miss anything or don't fully understand any of the voices). P2A is running on a networked PC. Pete Edited February 20, 20206 yr by Pete Dowson Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. February 20, 20206 yr I've tried most of them, and they all have their plus and minus points, but these days I go with MCE, which can of course interact with RC and PF as well as handling stuff entirely on its own. I still think MCE is one of the best programs ever for flight simulators, ever since I reviewed it for Avsim years ago when it first came out, and it's only got better over the years. I especially like the fact that you can easily jump from handling ATC yourself with it, to getting your virtual co-pilot to do it, and back again or have him/her do everything else too for that matter and make your own custom checklists etc. It is very much like being the P1 in real life, where you can if you wish decide who does what at any moment you like, or you can stay with clearly defined P1 and P2 roles. In combination with some decent AI planes with real airlines, it makes for a pretty convincing experience even with the default ATC. MCE is especially great for if the phone rings or whatever and you want to go do something but leave your flight progressing whilst you are away. Having MCE means you can just leave the co-pilot doing it all and you know it will work flawlessly - that's assuming he doesn't flip out, lock the flight deck door of your virtual airliner when you've gone to the loo and then crash the plane on purpose. Joking aside, that is just about the only feature MCE does not have. 🤣 Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
February 20, 20206 yr Hi All Is it my dodgy research or is p2a the only atc programme that has ongoing active development and support from the developer? RC4 is now freeware as v5 was abandoned, pro atc x appears moribund as does voxatc. I’d like to move on from RC4, which has served me well for the past xx years but it looks like Hobson’s choice at the moment... Regards G

Or you mean you don't use ATC as much as voice rec.app MCE? Thanks. Edited February 20, 20206 yr by Dirk98

April 21, 20206 yr Which one of the above issues you into a holding pattern. A holding pattern is when you approach the airport and it maybe too busy and so the ATC controller asks you to hold so you follow the holding pattern on the jeppesen chart.. or it issues you a specific hold where it asks you to goto a certain radial and hold at that radial. I know pilot2atc does not. Does anyone know.
April 21, 20206 yr I think radar contact does holds.
