Best ATC addon today

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I know there are a few ATC addons  in the market for p3d. Which one do you think is the best for v4.5?  I’m mainly looking for better ATC experience for IFR flying.  Thanks in advance for chiming in.

I use Pro-ATC\X, and once you get accustomed to manage it, you'll like it. I think there's no perfect solution yet.

Hi,

You have many topics on Avsim related to this question.

Nevertheless I have Pilot2Atc, PF3, Radar Contact and VoxAtc.

I mainly use Radar Contact and VoxAtc.

-VoxAtc is from my point of view the best. Very simple to implement, it works by voice (you will have to buy additional voices), you have the possibility to have a co-pilot who manages, if you wish, ATC. This software generates and manages the Ai (it is the only one that does it).

Very good vectoring even in mountainous regions, 9 times out of 10 it will not send you to a mountain during an approach. He manages the Sid and Star as well as he can.

------------------------

-Radar Contact is one of the best also. Very simple. If you want to command it by voice you will need to add Multi Crew Experience (excellent program). It doesn't have all the possibilities of Vox but he never left me in default. Last but not least, it is free!

------------------------

Pilot2Atc and PF3 have their qualities but also their defects (longer to put into service), relative obligation to declare in advance the Sid and Star...the type and characteristics of the aircraft (speed, rate of descent, rate of climb)and so...None of this is necessary in VoxAtc. Vox has a database of the aircraft, Sid, Star you use.

That said, about the last two, I sometimes use them from time to time just to change moods...

---------------

It should be noted that all these programs can be tried for free before purchasing them.

If you have specific questions about any of these programs, I will try to answer them.

Richard.

I love PROATC use it for every flight I make. Look it up on youtube.

You may be able to narrow your search if you specify a preference for voice activated or a more traditional keyboard input.

I had returned to PROATC x after not using it for several years and am quite happy with how much it has improved since I last used it.

I’ve run into an issue with it that I’m getting support for on their forum but once that’s resolved I expect it will become my go to for ATC.

Voices are the weak point.  There is someone that was working on new voice packs and these are quite an improvement though.  I do wish (in my fantasy world) that there was a way for PRO ATCx to utilize the default P3D ATC voices, that would be the perfect combo in my view.

I bought ProATC/X but later switched to Pilot2ATC.

Suggest you give the Pilot2ATC 10 day free trial a shot.

Also worth noting is the excellent support for P2ATC provided by Dave on the AVSIM hosted P2ATC forum.

I tried them all, even beta tested a couple. I only use PF3 now and I think it is the best overall. Free demo too.

I have VoxATC - so far so good, just learning it (it has some quirks) and I am getting on Pilotedge (I am just gonna all to all realistic live ATC now, facing a steep learning curve but if I make mistakes on there oh well, I get to learn and improve lol)

Simple.  Pick one of them....   but you knew that.  If there are 5 products and you ask that question here, you'll get 6 answers every time.

I use ProATC-X and have done for years.  I can't comment on any of the others.

Just to add to the mix, the default ATC when improved with EditVoicepackXL is actually pretty solid. Obviously it's perfectly integrated with the sim and controls AI as well, and the voices are excellent. Plus with the current version of EditVoicepackXL you get 5 "variants" of each voice (just pitch adjustments, but it does add variety.)

It's a good option for just a few bucks and slick integration.

Start with RC it's freeware.

I've always used it (at a certain point I moved to PF3 but eventually came back to RC).

I use Pro Atc, actually I find it pretty good and I use it for every flight. The only thing I wish it had, if you can import flightplan from simbrief instead of creating the flightplan manually
