January 7, 20206 yr Good news : The Game Ready Driver also brings a few minor improvements. On the one hand, there is the “Max Frame Rate” option, which allows the players – as the name suggests – to set a maximum refresh rate 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
January 7, 20206 yr A couple observations... the lowest it'll lock down to is 40 FPS. Also, the G-sync flicker I sometimes get seems to be gone.
January 7, 20206 yr Why would you need to set a max frame rate if you can just lock the framerate? 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
January 7, 20206 yr e.g. - for Games with problems with more than 60 FPS (all Bethesda games) - limiting the frames to meet your Freesync Monitor ranges (e.g. 30-60 Hz) - limiting the frames to save energy because your GPU calculates 200 FPS while you only need 30 - a couple more reasons why its useful and we dont need NVinspector anymore just to set frame limits. January 7, 20206 yr Author You can use Unlimited with a limited framerate now. E.g . I use 30 hertz / Unlimited /Vsync which is good everywhere except when I fly to London (TE GB + AS EGLL). Now I can Unlock vsync and limit to 25 in NV CP. As I too have had very good success running with a native 30 Hz monitor with Unlimited, Vsync and TB in P3D. It will be interesting to see how Unlimited with no Vsync but instead using NV CP to set frames hence shifting the control and valve selected from a Vsync function to the new frame limiter option will perform in a side by side comparison. I’ll have to check this out but as I also fly in VR with Vsync disabled and allow my Oculus headset to control frame rates higher than 30 fps I will have to better understand how to make potential use of this new additional capability. Are you saying you've been able to set a limit of 25 in NCP? My 60Hz monitor will only go as low as 40 on the NCP limiter (as Alex noted above). Just hoping for some clarification to better understand what Nvidia is doing and how. Thanks, Greg

January 7, 20206 yr I've always been under the impression that P3D will adapt how it renders scenery clarity based on fps & FFTF setting. Therefore I do not see any benefit in using and external fps limiter. MSFS
January 7, 20206 yr Just curious, what version driver is that? I updated the driver a week ago and I don't see that option anywhere. Ken Thompson i7-4790 @4 GHz 64 Bit Win 7 16G RAM GTX 1080Ti

Means: while it might look initially nice to have an external limiter back (with NV Inspector you always had the possibility to limit FPS via driver...), it might have adverse effects nevertheless. Turning off VSYNC in your case has the same effect no matter if you externally lock FPS or not, as it changes the way the engine works and the engine is not aware of the external frame limiter... Means: if the frame limiter of the NV Inspector did not suit you, the frame limiter now included in the control panel will equally not.
