Open cockpits?

How about a 747 with the top torn off due to decompression or something...does that count?

Not really open cockpit, but open cabin.  And the crew did a great job not only flying it after that, but doing a great landing.

My brother has Coronavirus, confirmed by testing. On 3/26 he almost didn't survive the night.  He had extreme trouble breathing and was given a steroid inhaler.  He was very weak, had nausea, and other issues that aren't pleasant.  As of this update he is feeling much better, and seems he will be fine.  Stay safe out there.  (Updated 4/6)

I love them too

Open Cockpit aircraft from the golden age offer the best experiene for a VFR orientend simulator like MSFS. Especially in these exotic places..,

I use a classic open cockpit biplane to test my VFR photo-scenery with custom autogen I am working on for that other simulator and the experience is just too pleasant and very satisfying... Now I suppose it should be multiplied by 10 in MSFS considering the engine...

Not to mention how awesome open cockpit flying would be in vr.

I’ve always said, my time flying a Stearman is the most rewarding flying I have ever done.  The sounds, the smells, the feeling, the satisfaction, the nostalgia - It’s all surreal really.

Lucky you!

Maybe we also get a taste of that...

I got a taste of it in Microsoft Flight and fell in love with the Stearman.  I bought one available from Golden Age Simulations, and when they made an updated version I bought that one too.  Together those two planes have the most flying hours logged of all my recent aircraft.

But I didn't love it enough to spring $500 for a 10 minute ride in a real one a few years ago at a fly-in. 🙂

I'm really looking forward to a good Stearman in MSFS.

If they were asking that, they were trying to take advantage of you.  Haha there is a place in Skiatook, OK that charges $325 per hour with instructor, and it is actual flight lessons.  He follows WWII pilot training syllabus.  That is where I flew one.  Got my tailwheel endorsement in it.

The rides were being given by one of the nearby flight museums and proceeds went to benefit the museum.  While I stood there watching, one guy bought a ride.  Boggles the mind.

Cavanaugh flight museum in Addison, I think.

Hm, 190 statute miles from me as the crow flies, more by road.  I've driven farther for less. 😄

Definitely recommend it!  The guy has an old Cub too.  That’s only like $165 an hour wet with instructor.  He’ll take you to a bunch of grass strips and then build your way up to the paved strip.  Awesome experience!

I'm hoping an trike ultralight becomes available at some point, just for scenic sightseeing flying!

With the advertised backward compatibility mode, you might be able to transfer the trike from your old FSX folder.
