October 11, 200619 yr It just struck me that despite all the heat being generated on this forum the [email protected] inbox is almost empty. That seems strange since it's one of the best and most reliable ways to get feedback to the whole FS team, not just those of us who read the forum messages. *Plus* it has the advantage of accepting attachments so one could, if one was so inclined, attached the output from DXDIAG.EXE so we'd know *exactly* what your system spec was as well as your slider settings (by saving them to a separate .CFG file). Perhaps it's just because so few people have the retail version yet. Just a thought.
October 11, 200619 yr Thanks they will be incomming soon. Something seems to have happened from the demo 2 realease to the full version the FPS have really tanked.
October 11, 200619 yr Commercial Member Mike, this is an encouraging post. I guess that means you guys are looking at potential performance enhancements ?
October 11, 200619 yr >Great! Having real objective data will help validate those>vague claims. If the bits are the same for the 2nd Demo as the retail version; then I can't seem to see why everyone's fps have tanked on the retail. I think maybe folks should stop adding all the stuff from fs9 and just try and enjoy the sim as is default settings. Also try the the Autogen tweak that PC12 posted. No I'm not a a really excited user per say; but I can appreciate what has been put into FSX. I will still fly FS9; and when the 17th gets here I'll buy the Deluxe version of FSX to fly along side.
October 11, 200619 yr Commercial Member >Perhaps>it's just because so few people have the retail version yet.Well, can you guys do something about that and tell the stores here they can sell it instead of keeping it locked in the back for 2 1/2 weeks? ;) :D Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
October 11, 200619 yr I sent an e-mail two days ago about not being able to install my Deluxe version... so far no word. Patience, patience.Greg
October 11, 200619 yr A tutorial describing the reporting process would be excellent. Maybe a lot of those people who have retail version would then respond? For the rest of us who have to wait until official release date we would be one step ahead if we have an issue. Have one of the moderators pin the post...regards
October 11, 200619 yr tdragger sorry you are right about a lot of claims are vague. Thanks for the email link maybe it could be made into a stickey by the powers that be here at AVSIM, that way everybody will know and it not get buried. I also add my vote to asking for Microsoft to allow FSX to go on sale now since it has already in so many stores.:-)
October 11, 200619 yr >>I also add my vote to asking for Microsoft to allow FSX to go>on sale now since it has already in so many stores.:-) I'm sure that decision goes far above his pay grade ;)
October 11, 200619 yr tdragger:I just posted this other message right before I saw your posting here... I think even with an e-mail in system you're going to go crazy with trying to figure out all the variables. Anyhow below is what I posted in the other thread. Maybe you guys can do something like this that would help you out more. At a minimum I'd say you need to do #1-#3 and then use your e-mail system as a way to submit all the data back..---- SNIP -----Ok, it seems like there's an aweful lot of confusion and conflicting information about what sort of performance people are getting with FSX. This is compounded by the wide variation in system components, FSX config settings, flight location, etc. What I propose is the following (and I'm looking for suggestions on how we could do this....)1) generate some sort of "benchmark" (for those FPS players out there, think "timedemo") flight that users can download and have FSX run. Basically make it a straight and level flight... or maybe a 15 minute run that starts out away from a city and then does a full fly to and approach and landing at an airport. (Is there a way to capture a flight like this to a file and have the sim refly it automatically?)2) a series of standard CFG files at various levels of detail settings. That the users could also download and use on their machines.3) Allow the user to use the downloaded CFG file, and the benchmark and we somehow capture the FPS they are getting (think something like the way FRAPS does it... Is there a way in the SimConnect API to capture and log FPS???)4) After a benchmark run, the user posts into a web form his FPS log file, and the form also captures which CFG file he was using, what his CPU, MB model, RAM amount + speed, video card(s) w video memory, hard drives, etc. were in a standard format that everyone uploads in.Items #1 and #2 locks down the variables so we can directly relate the FPS performance to the settings used and the hardware configuration.I think doing something like this would greatly help the community track down what is causing the slow downs, what hardware seems to help it the most and where to look for fixes in the system. What do you guys think?--2002cbr600f4i
October 11, 200619 yr EDIT: Do not try to bypass the forums' filter or post bad language in these forums again.>It just struck me that despite all the heat being generated>on this forum the [email protected] inbox is almost empty.>That seems strange since it's one of the best and most>reliable ways to get feedback to the whole FS team, not just>those of us who read the forum messages. *Plus* it has the>advantage of accepting attachments so one could, if one was so>inclined, attached the output from DXDIAG.EXE so we'd know>*exactly* what your system spec was as well as your slider>settings (by saving them to a separate .CFG file). October 11, 200619 yr "I also add my vote to asking for Microsoft to allow FSX to go on sale now since it has already in so many stores.:-)"I am seriously thinking about burglarizing the nearest EB games! I wonder if they would prosecute me if I left $75 on the counter?I could plead temporary insanity as a result of Brazil, Canada, Italy, etc. ALL getting it before the full release in the US!
October 11, 200619 yr Jeez.......I wonder if people are not reporting anything to MS because they are in possesion of Unauthorized Release copies of the product???Now If MS would email all their vendors and authorize release earlier than the 17th Ill bet that will change things rapidly.....Thats a no brainner
October 11, 200619 yr I just emaild them myself and got a J Brian Smith is out until Oct 13th response...which means realisticly the 16th....MS is starting to bug me...
