October 12, 200619 yr Hello Greg,Have you checked your OS.The OS should be XP SP2 for 256 and Vista for 512.If you don't have it install FSX will fail to Exe.You can find XP SP2 courtesy of Microsoft updates.Plus make should you have 256mb of Ram.Best regards,Real Spinner
October 12, 200619 yr HiJust tried to email the link to microsoft and got reply domain not found, could it be an errorThanks Ray
October 12, 200619 yr >I sent an e-mail two days ago about not being able to install>my Deluxe version... so far no word. Patience, patience.>>GregI've been wondering about this...As much as I tried (hundreds of times, with all types of solutions posted around the web) I could never get this demo to install. I was hoping to find a post like this, to see if the problem existed in the retail version. I wonder: was it the 'installation was interrupted before completion' error?Anyway, looks like my P4 2.8Mhz with Radeon 9800XT and 2Gs of RAM will be insufficient to run it anyway (at least until some kind of miracle patch). Since most of my money is in real-world pilot training at the moment, I doubt I'll buy another computer just for FSX... like I did for FS2004. I can appreciate that the FS team is trying to push the envelope with every release - just as I'm sure the FS team can appreciate that I can't buy a new computer with every new release of their product. But who knows? Maybe I can live with vastly reduced settings in FSX... I'd know if only I could get the demo to work.

October 12, 200619 yr I believe mail sent to that address is actually redirected to a number of individuals at Microsoft. Apparently one of them is on vacation and he happens to have a badly configured auto-responder...Doug
October 12, 200619 yr >I sent an e-mail two days ago about not being able to install>my Deluxe version... so far no word. Patience, patience.>>GregAre you having the same problem as I am? When I put either of the FSX Deluxe discs in my DVD drive, they come up as blank. The only thing on the discs is a strange text file titled Readme with the following message. "This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating systemthat supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification."Even the guys at Guru3d are confused by this one. I'm not sure if this is a Windows problem, a drive problem, or an FSX problem. I popped the disc into the drive of my iBook, and according to it, the files are there. Windows Explorer just isn't seeing them.I don't have any other DVD-Rom discs to try but DVD videos work. udfs.sys is in the Windows directory. I also updated my DVD drive to the latest firmware but still no luck. I'm running Windows XP 2002 Edition with SP2 and all of the latest updates. The drive is an LG GSA-4160B DVD Multi. Tried the free Adaptec UDF Reader as well.

October 12, 200619 yr <>That just means that one of the folks on the internal list is Out of Office and apparently has the option set to send that information to external email addresses as well as internal ones (we're just a bunch of programmers and whatnot, you can't expect us to actually know how to use our own MS software :-> ). Other folks who receive those emails are still receiving themTim Tim http://fsandm.wordpress.com

October 12, 200619 yr was it the 'installation was interrupted before completion' error?Yep. It has something to do with SP2 hosing my idendity as outlined here: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=search I've tried numerous times, all sorts of different methods using ntrights.exe, yet no success. I didn't have any problems with the demo.My concern is that once this product meets it's "official" release date there will be alot more folks unable to install their shiney, new FSX. Me, I believe I'll head back to Best Buy to try working something out with regard to returning my FSX Deluxe (haven't had much help from MS... they want me to reinstall Windows. Not gonna happen.).Thanks all,Greg

I am not quite sure how to but I want to>contribute in sending this information to microsoft as>tdragger suggests.Sorry if this is too brief:1. Click Start, then Run...2. Type 'dxdiag' and press Enter.3. Click the 'Save all information' button.4. Save the file (default name = 'dxdiag.txt').Then...1. Run FSX.2. Click 'Settings' from the left hand menu.3. Click the 'Save...' button.4. Save the file (will have a .CFG extension).Send those two files.
